Pat appears to be live this morning.
Well Pat Sharp is a prolific broadcaster and his natural ability enables him to sound live. He possibly is 'live' although he was in Exeter doing a 80's gig yesterday.

Great to hear him again, although I have listened to his holiday cover for Bam Bam on Sam FM weekday breakfast in recent times.

P.S.

Not a bad playlist this morning either:
Lonestar - Amazed
Played - 9:21am
Christopher Cross - Arthurs Theme (Best You Can Do)
Played - 9:17am
Phyllis Nelson - Move Closer
Played - 9:13am
Bryan Adams - Heaven
Played - 9:09am
Madonna - Borderline
Played - 9:05am
Simply Red - Stars
Played - 9:01am
Peabo Bryson / Roberta Flack - Tonight I Celebrate
Played - 8:56am
Eurythmics - Miracle Of Love
Played - 8:52am
O'Jays - Love Train
Played - 8:49am
INXS - Never Tear Us Apart
Played - 8:45am

Because sisterstatIon Nation Radio is in Wales I thought.
I feel certain Thames Radio studios are based in London. Tony Blackburn lives in Hertfordshire and travels down to Kent to record his Sunday show for KMFM. Therefore he doesn't have a home studio, I would imagine he did his Soul Show in the London Studio last evening.

The Southbank Blue Fin Building studios which Nation had when running NME and then was used by teamRock might not now be in use and available?.

Also the Battersea Spectrum studio Lyca temporarily used might be available? http://www.media247.co.uk/bizasia/su...rs-take-charge
Or the RCS studios in Guildford used temporarily by Time 106.6
Or the WRN studios in Vauxhall Jazz FM temporarily used?

Sound quality was horrible. They must tweak the stream processing.
Sounds fine on Tune In via my Smart TV!

Although having said that. The 10 O'Clock news didn't go to plan. They played the weather sweeper jingle and the 9 O'Clock news started. This is a VT'd show.

I was certain the newsreader said 'it's 8.01' out of the 9'O Clock news so maybe they are running the news bulletins an hour late in the play out system

Pat was requesting people to call in a get their favourite chilled out sing on the air and Pat did give out a couple of time checks which is why I thought it was live.

Perhaps it is 'live' although VT's are done really well these days! Haven't heard any requests being played as yet?

It's definitely not live - the genuine 11:00 news was followed by 'Weather' which turned out to be the 9:00am news played in full. No comment from Pat Sharp.

Then why masquerade as live and give out time checks and ask for callers? What a con

That's possible and your opinion, but I think it sounds horrible and it can be better.

As an automated station, the server and playout system is most likley in Wales along with all of the other Nation Broadcasting stations. In terms of voicetracking, any presenter could most likely use any studio - homebased, another radio station or indeed any studio in London that is available to hire. I can't imagine this station having its own dedicated London studios.

A more recent link ask for callers to suggest songs for future shows.

The more I listened the clearer it became obvious it was VT'd

That's plausible, but I guess we will never know exactly how it is set up? There isn't a public file on the website either.

Tony sometimes tweets pictures or periscope from studios he works in. I guess in future they may have permission to do this once the station schedule etc has been built

That's right! He did this last Sunday at the Greatest Hits studio in London. It's great he does this and is simply to say I'm doing this show 'live'

Like you say, they are in the process of building the station.

Have to say, I loving the Totally 90's show! Some songs you'd hardly ever hear on most stations!

And during this show, it appears the song 'now playing' doesn't display. I guess this is because this output isn't coming from the main playout system.

All this talk of studios..... you do not need a 'studio' to voice-track a radio show. All the content can be stored on a server, only the voice tracks are recorded remotely by the presenter, literally anywhere quiet using a humble PC or Mac, and then automatically uploaded. It is very possible to give accurate time checks as you can see the markers in 'the clocks' or running order telling you what time the VT will go out. Pretending to be live or at least not saying that you are recorded is as old as the hills in radio.

Eventually a news item will occur, like the death of a famous musician and no mention will be made, giving the game away.....

Totally 80s and Totally 90s are syndicated shows, produced by Blue Revolution. Gary King is the normal presenter but as he's on Smooth in London I'm guessing they had to find someone else to present it on Thames.

Gary King's Totally 80s is on right now on Sunshine Radio in Hereford and it's the same script word for word as Martin Buchanan yesterday on Thames.

I heard quite a bit of Foxy on Friday and a little bit of his and Pat Sharp's weekend shows.

I thought some of Foxy's links on Friday weren't great - his delivery was more VO than VT - but it might just be a while since he's VT'd a show. He sounded a bit better yesterday.

Pat Sharp sounded much slicker this morning - very convincing delivery. And he dropped in the kind of meaningless but nice link that makes radio sound local ('hope you're up to something nice in London today' etc).

I'll be interested to hear a bit more this week. I have to say that, even if this is all coming from Wales/Pat Sharp's spare bedroom, it does the job of sounding like a local station. By contrast, I heard some of the Heart Thames Valley local afternoon show today, and I didn't hear a single jingle or link to suggest that the show was local - apart from a brief bit of cross-promotion for a competition on the local breakfast show.

Morningshow and Pat Sharp both VT's and it sounded very flat, boring and dry in combination with bad tweaked processing it's unlistenable. And also a very tight playlsit with lots of repeats. It still sounds like a big hoax and as a wannabee London radiostation.

According to schedule Pat Sharp would be on from 11.00 to 1.00 uur, but he's not at the moment. I wonder if Neil Francis is on at 1.00 from then.

He sort of is - he had a namecheck ID just after 11am, but his links just seem to be "This is Pat Sharp right here on Thames Radio".

I don't hear any VT's after then.
