Anyone listen to the Top 10 at 10 today?
I listened to it of Internet Radio player.
They were playing songs from 1977
Pat Sharp played "Sir Duke " by Stevie Wonder and then said that "Sir Duke" was coming up.
They then played a Coldplay song and Pat said it was "The Name of The Game" by ABBA.
I am sure they played songs from 1977 yesterday as well.
A complete mess of a radio station ....

Listed to last half an hour of "drivetime" the other night, I swear I only heard Neil Fox's voice once, and even then in the most generic of "This is Thames Radio - playing XY and Z" type of link in between two songs with lots of silence either side. I thought it was a test transmission at first, but no, this is the real thing.

Music selection's ok - nice to have something different as the London market is saturated with laid-back stuff like Smooth and Magic, and we don't have the Bauer City 2 format down here. But without the money to do any kind of proper promotion, this is just going to be lost amongst the dozens and dozens of DAB stations available to London.

My word this station is a boring mess. I wonder how much it is costing to run it? It seems a shocking waste of money when they appear to be going out of their way to make it into a complete disaster. Neil Francis pops up a moment or so ago with an utterly bland automated link about 'playing so much great music on Thames'. Blah.

an automated Dr Fox this afternoon, can't quite see the point of it. seems a terrible waste of talent, time and someone's money. hopefully the directors will read this thread and kick it into shape before there is another vacancy on DAB. surely as others have said put the big guns on breakfast and drive "live". is the breakfast show host presenting his show in between herding the sheep?

I don't know why everyone is getting so worked up, it's probably got zero listeners so let them get on with it.

This station won't last with pre recorded shows.

I was told that Dean Martin was going to do a live request show, but not seen this on radio today?

How can it have "zero listeners" when so many people on here alone are commenting about it !!

I really thought this radio station would be live or is it building upto becoming live? How is it being funded?

Are they actually building a radio station in London but at present automating and VT it?

"I'm Neil Fox and I'm happy to be bringing some Magic to the Capital." He's basically just reading out his CV now.

I agree that, with no proper marketing other than a bit of pre-launch PR, very few people will be listening.

What bothers me, though, is how agonisingly close they've come to creating something very good indeed.

Big names? Tick.
Decent music? Tick.
Local news, weather and travel? Tick.

Yet they've somehow managed to assemble all that into something less than the sum of its parts. If they could just fork out for a couple more hours of Foxy, Pat Sharp and Neil Francis's time to properly voice-track a week's worth of shows, this station could be a real game-changer.

Where are they getting all the info from?

They are building the radio station from scratch trying few Pre Recorded links cause they won't be receiving l guess much money for it as where is the commercials to pay for it? Then they will eventually to a big launch with a studio in London?

I know I'm playing devil's advocate by saying this, but...

I quite like the music mix. I don't care if we don't have jocks full of personality talking all the way through every intro, this isn't the 1980's anymore. Sure, it could be a bit more varied but tight playlists have been proven to work on other stations so why would you choose to take the risk if you investing significantly in building up a new station.

As for giving relative novices a chance, I'd rather have non-stop music than someone who is half baked. It wasn't long ago that everyone on here was slagging off Virgin Radio for having dull jocks, it seems stations can't win on here.

Stereo would be nice (DAB+ anyone?) but they can pay the streaming bill to my internet radio in the meantime. Listening to Heart less as a result, broadly similar music (without the new stuff) but they only seem to have about 2 advertisers at the moment so there's far less clutter.

How can you say the music selection is ok? It's not others then Smooth, Magic and Heart. It's the same stuff, it's soft/medium also the imaging and voice-over ID's, it's not upbeat what Capital was in their hey days. And with a very, very tight rotation and lot of repeats for a classics station mind you, this is not gonna work, period.

It's a good point. Is Virgin still on, though? I hear nothing of it or about it.

I wouldn't be looking forward to their Rajar figures, it seems to have sunk without trace after launch.

Back on Thames Radio, I think the playlist could do with a little bit of tweaking; not sure the upbeat "Wham - I'm Your Man" fits within their love songs programme, but they just played it.

No changes on the sound. I had hopes for better soundprocessing.

I'm sorry to be the one to say it, but this is a radio anorak's fetish project. What the hell are Nation thinking? We've just had it very clearly demonstrated to us that the radio marketplace is getting very crowded (Moyles on Radio X being a RAJAR case-in-point, the Virgin, Talk etc. launches only adding to this). And tempting listeners to digital-only is even harder. I'd be shocked if this still exists in a year's time.

So Foxy is back at 4pm, not live, but at least with bespoke voice links for todays show.

Haha!
Bespoke voice links. What a treat.
Love how they've sold this as the radio station that London has been crying out for, and it's more automated than all the others put together.
Absolute classic

(that's not a station idea by the way)

Still sounding awefull on the stream. When are they gonna use processing on the stream?! All sounding like it is in bypass modus.
