What a misleading start so far.

There is a connection.. Martin Mumford .
Thanks,
I remember the old Thames FM,

can't remember who all the presenters were, but it sounded OKish, but the traffic eye on a bike was a bit naff compared to Capital.

I expected Pat Sharp from this morning, but still non stop music....
Tony Blackburn only a syndicated show, what a bummer so far this station.
Apparently the full schedule begins next week, though I can't see why. Pat will be on air on Sunday and also Top10@10 from Monday next week, a breakfast show also from next week. Don't know when Neil Fox starts though, could be this Fri or Sat or week after.

We'll just have to wait and see. Once in place, shoild be a fairlly decent schedule.

I think the DAB launch was yesterday, expect presenters by this coming weekend with proper schedule from next Monday

They tweeted this morning that Tony was joining and there would be a live Breakfast show from Monday 4th July

A very odd way of launching a station.

Not a bad mix of music, though - not many stations that would play Soft Cell and Johnny Bristol back to back!

I guess all I can really do is reserve judgement until they actually have a schedule. In principle, this could be quite good, but it all depends on what they can offer apart from the music.

By the way, is Tony Blackburn's show actually syndicated? I didn't think he did a soul show anywhere else.

Sam Walker (now BBC radio Manchester), Clive West (now on Radio Jackie), can't recall the guy that did the morning/afternoon show but he did like 11am-4pm weekdays.
I'm sure Neil Long did breakfast as well for a short period before it became Jackie.

I remember in Summer of 2003 when they stopped Thames and just played wall to wall music whilst they moved to Tolworth Broadway. The music was excellent.

It's syndicated so not exclusive for Thames Radio.

Chris Tarrent for breakfast would be great to link this new station to the old Capital.

Getting Chris Tarrant for breakfast would be huge, but I can't really see him wanting or needing to do it - or them being able to afford him.

So far it looks like the budget for big names only runs to weekly shows, which is probably why the weekend schedule is coming together more quickly than the weekday one.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. Some decent new talent on weekdays, with weekly shows (plus the 10 at 10) from a few big names is a perfectly good formula that works for many other stations.

A few issues with automated back-timing going into the 12 o'clock news. We got the first few bars of Sade, which were swiftly cut off by the news jingle.

The news was quite nicely localised (top story was the London MPs getting jobs in the new shadow cabinet). But I'm hoping they'll cover London-specific stories (eg transport disruption) rather than just localise national stories. Hard to judge from 60-second bulletins on a very busy national news day, though.

New talent ok, but who fits in this format and not that much. Generally well known names it must be the basic for this station who the spirit of the old Capital can revive.

Not syndicated!
It looks as if The Tony Blackburn Soul Party IS a customised show exclusive to Thames Radio.

http://radiotoday.co.uk/2016/06/tony...adio-schedule/

Wonder if it will be picked up later by others because it will prove a big draw for TB fans and, no doubt, be a big boost for the new radio station.

Don't see why it's not syndicated in this radiotoday press release.

Not apparent in the press release, but I've been Googling and can't see that it exists on any other stations. Neither his Bauer nor his KMFM show is a soul show from what I can tell. His BBC London show was, but that doesn't exist any more.

It not syndicated as anyone who follows him will tell you . And knowing Tony on Periscope he might show you the studio he does it from at some point . Which will be in London somewhere as I can't see him driving to Wales to do 😂

If you're hinting at the fact that it could be syndicated across Nation or other stations, no-one's saying it won't be - just that it's not one of Tony's existing shows.

A friend who worked at the Kent Messenger once told me that Tony had an arrangement with KMFM where he'd do all his pre-recorded shows for various other stations in their studios. Not sure whether that was definitely - or still is - the case.

I see him in a so called 'greatest hits' studio on Periscope, it's not a Thames Radio studio I guess. but from what I understand that he'e doing different programs for more stations.

The quicker way in this instance would be via lsn.to/TMS as posted in post #3.

I joined Thames Radio in 2001 when it had been bought by Radio Investments, now TLRC. Then they got rid of Mark Walker (now Jazz FM) as PC and brought in Johnny Haywood who changed the format to a 'Chilled' station sacked 80% of the presenting staff just keeping Russ Underwood, myself & brought in Sam Walker along with Rick Adams on breakfast. Then as most of you know the station was bought by Radio Jackie for £1. The presenters that Johnny had brought on board left and again myself & Russ were kept on by Jackie along with Sam.
Jackie kept running it as Thames Radio until the new, and current, studios were being built in Tolworth and Radio Jackie was 'reborn' in October 2003
