They are playing well, have a decent draw and also they have Gareth Bale so i think they have got a great chance

No but it would be amazing if we did.

Every 12 years an unlikely team wins it...I'm not saying it'll be Wales but you never know Leicester n' all....Croatia look a good bet for that 'smaller' nation team to win it, if they can be considered a smaller nation due to their quality..

Still buzzing from yesterday but not getting ahead of myself! Would ideallly like to avoid NI in the next round and go from there. Tbh am still getting my head around qualifying, never mind winning the group!

Yes. Anyone can win and Wales look better than most. They are probably.....I'd guess 8th favourites? (I must check the odds).

(10th favourites apparently).

No, because not every team is going to play like they no longer want to be there like Russia did.

I'm predicting that they will be let down by Ashley Williams ( again) .

True he ought to leading the stats for assisting other teams goals or goal attempts. For a big bloke he's getting out jumped a lot.

Enough of my bitc*ing realistically we can get to the semis and probably lose to a team such as Croatia unless we meet them in the last 8. Given that we created about a dozen good chances against Russian if we put out that level of performance and Wales will be hard to stop. Anyway its nice to be in the tournament and showing what we are capable of.

The way the draw has opened up for them? Absolutely they can win it. I think they will get to the Semi Finals now, and play Croatia. Obviously Croatia would be favorite, but Wales could beat them.

They'll probably have to get past Belgium or Portugal first which I think is unlikely although you never know.

Wales v Portugal could be interested as the focus would all be on Bale v Ronaldo.

I fancy Bale's chances in that matchup

He's definitely been the better so far.

How long can Ronaldo keep going without scoring though?

It's highly unlikely but they can certainly have a good run at it.

The fact is only one world-class player has actually turned up at this tournament so far, and that's Bale. It remains to be seen whether other big names will do the same.

you never know. One world class player can take them a long way, and they are on the easy side of the draw.

I went off Germany a bit in their friendly against Poland, but they could have had a bagful against NI.

I am still happy to have my money on Germany.

it just occurred to me to check some populations

Netherlands 16M
Belgium 11m
Portugal 10m
Denmark 5.6m (WINNERS!!!)
Croatia 4m
Wales 3m
so why not

apropos of which
New Zealand 4.4m

and we know NZ are near on unbeatable at Rugby.

Well, if we're going by population, Russia should be unbeatable in Europe. Somehow that stat doesn't work

The way Belgium & Portugal are playing, I would back Wales over either of them.

If Sweden beat Belgium, that could remove Belgium from Wales half of the drawer.

Portugal could also end up in the bottom half of the drawer also or get knocked out tonight.

Dream Scenario Top Half 8
Switzerland (2nd Group A) - confirmed
Poland (2nd Group C) - confirmed
Croatia (1st Group D) - confirmed
N.Ireland (3rd Group C)
Hungary (3rd Group F)
Iceland (1st Group F)
Sweden (2nd Group E)
Wales (1st Group B) - confirmed

You misunderstand, the stat is showing smaller nations are victorious more.

they might just make it to the final considering how weak their half of the draw us but they're not going to win it.
