For people who are still somehow arguing in circles

Champions League - happens every year. If you're already in one of the 3 best clubs in the world, you already have a good shot at it from the outset.

International trophy - happens every 4 years. Much more difficult to win because you don't have the best players in the world around you and so many little things have to come together for that to happen. It's also much more prestigious.
That isn't squaring a circle at all, that's just your opinion to be added to that of everyone else.

It's amazing that you are not willing to say that the statement that I said is true. I can't think that anyone who follows sport would say that winning the European championship would not add to an already top players' legacy....

You're a man who's not for conceding an inch. Respect!
I am saying that Ronaldo is EXACTLY the same player had his team mates won the game or lost the game after he left the field injured. Surely you can see why its a bizarre world when a player can have a career of 10 years of top level trophy winning and record breaking enhanced or diminished by the performance of 10 other people whilst he is injured.

Why is it so difficult to accept that winning an international trophy with your national team is more special than winning a club trophy? It's like arguing that winning the Olympics shouldn't be more important to a sprinter than winning a World Championship.
A sprinter is relying on himself alone and does the exact same thing in the World Championships as he does in the Olympics, therefore the Olympics is a fair benchmark because nothing else changes. A footballer is being judged in a completely different environment with different team mates when he plays at International level. Its not the same thing at all.

Yes, and he'd have been the same player if he had missed a penalty in the final. My point was about his legacy and how it is enhanced as the team he captained and scored three goals for, won a tournament that they have never won before.

Yes its good for his CV and I'm sure he is delighted to have won and been a vital part of it but we shouldn't be using 1960s standards to judge 2016s players, that's all I'm saying.

From my time, I would say Platini by a distance. I voted for him.

Although, the experts in this question usually vote Puskas as No 1 and DiStefano not far behind and neither are in the poll, nor Bobby Moore are John Charles who were the best two British players bar Best.

I would have said Gascoigne or Bryan Robson were better than Xavi, Iniesta or Baggio. Certainly Robson was very close to Platini (as were others at that time like Matthaus) who got my vote but injuries hampered him.

Had he not had his career shortened by ten years, Van Basten would have achieved so much more.

Sammer was better than Matthaeus, but Zidane was better than all the players you mentioned. In fact, I would say together with Maradona and Pele, Zidane is one of the 3 best footballers of all time

I'd take the first three off a list of greatest European players of all-time.

Thats absolutely hilarious

You are basically saying, you are making a judgement that, for example, Eusebio, who you admit you may only have seen a few montage style clips of, is better than cronaldo?

Even if he was better (and i dont think for 1 moment he was), i couldnt make that judgement from a youtube clip.

You are right, you personally cannot make a fair judgement of those you havent seen play over a period of time.

Definitely, his winner vs Man Utd is probably the best footballing moment I'll ever see in person.

Much will have to do with a poster's age but, for me, in his prime it has to be George |Best.

A pity Busby couldn't control him.
