Burton beat Derby in the Nigel Clough Derby tonight. A fantastic result for Burton which will make Derby regret sacking Clough

For how long will it continue? Newcastle United and Aston Villa are the biggest teams on paper. Barnsley are now third in the league. Wolves also had a good start. Huddersfield haven't lost to any of them. Leeds are struggling, and Huddersfield Town thrashed them last season.

I was at the Barnsley - Hudds game last weekend (I was one of the walkers!) and both teams could have won, but in the end it was Huddersfield, if it wasn't for our striker missing a crucial one on one.
Huddersfield looked decent indeed, as did us in the 2nd half. Whether or not both teams can keep up the early form remains to be seen, I thought Huddersfield were suspect at the back, and pretty toothless up front, a striker short I think. Another nice 6 million for us with the sale of Alfie Mawson, on top of the John Stones money, and I'm sure we have a sell on clause for Mason Holgate who is ripping it up at Everton currently. We are rolling in it ££££££ |

Never in a million years did I think we'd ever play Derby on equal terms let alone beat them. Dad and sis Derby season ticket holders makes it all the more sweet!! The dream of survival is still on. |

Huddersfield go marching on. 4 points clear at the top after their victory at Leeds.

1st away points on the board for Barnsley, a tough game coming up on Tuesday night at Molineux, I would take a point.
One thing is for sure though, we are a joy to watch at the minute, very entertaining playing football how it should be played, I don't want it to end! |

Seems inevitable though. Monk was a fool for going there in the first place. It was clear that unless he happened to hit the ground running and somehow transform them into promotion contenders then he would be disposed of. Saw the stats the other day on just how short lived the manager tenures are there under Cellino. Even shorter than I realised, just ridiculous. The longest-serving is Redfearn who has effectively only been filling in during two separate spells whilst the owner hires some other full-time manager to sack at the earliest opportunity. |

Nigel Pearson's reign at Derby could be a short-lived one at this rate. Bottom three now.

Very good win from Newcastle 3-2 down going into injury time and then winning 4-3 with Gayle scoring a hat-trick.

Paul Trollope unsurprisingly sacked by Cardiff. Looks like a job for Warnock

Looking from the outside in, it is sad what is happening to Aston Villa, but I do think that perhaps pride might have to be put aside, and they should bring in an ex-Birmingham manager In Bruce.
He would be what they need at this stage of the season. They really do need to go up this season. It is quite remarkable, and shows how fast things can change in football, that just a few months ago, Di Matteo was allowed to spend what was it, a staggering amount of money in June/July, yet in September, he is out of the door, and not got the trust of the board anymore. Perhaps this reflects more on the people that gave him the job in the first place, as there does need to be a bit of culpability there, and yes Di Matteo didn't get the results, but with so much money splashed out, the people who signed those players, need to be looked at as well. If they appoint Bruce, then with so much of the season still left to play, then they could still reach the play-offs, because if not, then I could see a bit of calamity going there, and they could turn out like say Blackburn, who have struggled in the Championship. |
