Does anyone have a monthly sim only contract with LIFE Mobile? I am looking for a sim only deal and they are offering a good deal for what I need:

600 mins
5000 texts
500MB
£4.95 per month
3G

It would be great to hear from someone who has the deal with good or bad reviews.

Thanks in advance

My OH has that deal, no problems what so ever but I seen this yesterday that you may be interested in if you’re just about to go for it...

https://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/sim_...RlYWxzLyZwbz05
Thought I’d add there’s no 4G at this price but the OH is getting very good speeds with 3G internet, from memory 18 down and 8 up.

Another bonus is that calls are billed by the second so 600 minutes is truly 600 minutes not like the sim I run for my Granddaughter on IDmobile that takes a whole minute even when you hit answering machine and hang-up after two seconds.

I’ll get around to switching her sim to Life when I catch up with her.

HI, thanks very much for this. I was expecting a lot of negative answers but I think I will go for the uswitch deal you have linked. I've checked the terms and conditions and it's easy enough to get out of if necessary

I use Life Mobile, as does my Step Father - no problems to report in relation to either experience.

Dealing with the Call Centre was relatively straight forward in relation to porting both numbers across from Three, mine was done over the live chat on the website, and my Step Fathers was done over the phone, no drama's or negatives using either method.

Large parts of Cheshire and Staffordshire Moorlands are still a barren wasteland in relation to 4G coverage, so having access to 3G only isn't a hardship here.

When my current contract with Three ends , Life Mobile is looking like a good deal, the only small problem is no 4G, will have to think about it .

Full credit goes to Paul O’Brien over on the Modaco forum for that one; I just wished it came up a couple of months ago when I signed the other half up.

That said she gets nowhere near using ten hours of talk time every month.

I got that deal through Uswitch. Amazing value.

OP, been with them for about a month. The reason I went with them was they run on EE, which have by far the best network imo. They've been great so far. I did have a problem with porting my number to them, but don't think that was particularly their fault (they all use a central system afaik). Anyway they sorted the problem.

I think, but not 100% sure the porting over becomes a tiny problem (5 days instead of the normal 2 days to port) if the network your coming from is also on the EE network as I had this porting the OH’s number from the Post Office network who also run, or is that ran , on EE.

I came from EE, so maybe that was it. However the port kind of half worked. The day after I gave Life my PAC my EE sim went dead. However only outgoing calls/texts from my Life sim worked with my ported number. Nobody could call/text me and also data didn't work. Life mobile called it a split port when I rang them about. Anyway they sorted it in a few days, so no real problem.

I have to say customer service were probably the most helpful and friendly bunch I've ever dealt with. I was very impressed.

Thanks for all the replies, my sim arrived yesterday and now up and running. Signal in house seems better than my previous contract with virgin. Very clear website to monitor useage so very happy so far 👍

As they are both EE 3G that isn't possible unless you've changed handset as well, it's probably a "new toy" placebo effect...

Could be a 'priority' issue? Life Mobile are AFAIK actually owned by EE whereas Virgin aren't....

There is no priority system on EE, and even if there was it wouldn't show by a variation to signal strength, it would manifest via slower data speeds (as happens on o2 with Tesco, Giffgaff etc).

I've found LIFE mobile to be reasonably OK. The only problem I've had is trying to get them to increase the time the phone rings before going to voicemail up to 30 seconds - they seem totally incapable of managing that.

You can set the delay yourself from your handset. First you need to know your full voicemail number. You can get this by dialling *#61# It will be in the format +44... write it down.

Now dial the following string inserting your voicemail number in the +44 format.

**61*[voicemail number]*11*30#

i.e. **61*+441234567890*11*30#

The number 30 can be any number from 5 to 30 in increments of 5 depending on how many seconds delay you require before an unanswered call is sent to voicemail.

I was briefly with life mobile and they sorted this within two days for me. First they sent me the above codes but they didn't work. Just kept returning an error message. So I called back and asked them to do it their end. He said he'd have to look into it.

I got an email about 18 hours later saying it had been done. Checked it and it had indeed been fixed.

I’ve tried all the short codes under the sun and none of them work with Life mobile.

Just tried your particular code and got “connection problem or invalid MMI code” flash up on the screen.

If on android try adding a comma to the end of the code. This forces the operation to execute and overlook any error that’s in the way.

I have used these codes on EE so would expect it to also work on LIFE mobile.
