Iceland will park the bus, and try to do us on penalties. And it'll probably work.

It'd count as an upset, but there's no laughing stock unless they were to batter us.

There are no easy games at this stage, so we will have to be very careful of them.

I think one of the main problems is that media will preview the game as if it's taking place in 1976 or 1986.
Once upon a time England scored eight away to turkey but these results rarely happen in international football anymore |

The worst part is the no-win situation, even if England win.
People will spend the next week outraged at the merest notion of anyone suggesting it's 'only' Iceland, but then if England do advance that'll be their exact reason to explain why. That or luck. Iceland, like many teams, are well organised, and will be hard to break down. An early goal will help. |

Reporter on the BBC News has already described this draw as "very good news" and was quick to point out that Iceland is about the same size as Leicester (and we know what Leicester can do, hardy har har!)
It begins... |

Surely the biggest laughing stock of the tournament so far is Austria.

Portugal would have been a more open game whereas Iceland will be Slovakia 2.0.

Nail on the head. All those bigging up Iceland will claim they are rubbish if England win, and it was "lucky England" again.
Iceland, like many teams, are well organised, and will be hard to break down. An early goal will help. If England win it will be because we played well, not because of luck. |

You very rarely get knowledgeable people reporting on these matters, so what they say is pretty pointless really.

It is anything but an easy game, anyone saying otherwise is daft.
If England win it will be because we played well, not because of luck. |

Obviously it won't be easy because Iceland look decent and they play in a style that England appear not to be able to cope with. ie they defend well
What England should do is chuck everything at them in the first 10 minutes to try and score early and open the game up a bit..........then bring on Vardy ! But even so it's a damn sight easier than playing Portugal who always seem to knock us out of tournaments and would probably do so again We've got a better chance against Iceland |

Has someone taken over your account? How come it was luck when we got a last minute winner against Wales?

If pundits and commentators say it's an easier opponent than Portugal, thats true. Most people would agree with that. That is not 'starting already' as some people call it...
It's only morons like lawrenson who talk complete tosh. |

It's only morons like lawrenson who talk complete tosh. I personally think England would have knocked out Portugal this time round anyway, they're not on a patch from their 2000-2006 teams with Figo, Rui Costa, Deco etc. |

Yes, they have earned the right as they won the group.
They are still a weaker team at their best than a team with Ronaldo and other preening shmos |

What minute in the game constitutes good play, and then it changes to good luck?
87th minute winner - fantastic will, spirit and quality. 88th minute winner - super lucky. Jammy ****ers. |

I believe it's the 88th.
