Not serious?

Not serious?

You do realise that football is a more important issue than life or death don't you?

Ask Bill Shankly!!
Can't ask Bill - death had the last laugh sadly

I'm happy that it's Iceland rather than Portugal but I still think this will be very difficult. I envisgae a 1-0 England win or maybe a 2-0. this is probably going to be a game where we will have to be patient but will see us tearing our hair out and shouting obsenities frequently at the TV.

An early goal will be critical. Iceland have been stubborn buggers so far. You'd expect us to have too much for them surely.

This match won't be as easy as many probably think. I'm hoping vardy starts but I have a feeling it'll be Kane.

With Iceland defending deep with men behind the ball, this is not a game for Vardy to start. Better as an impact sub if space opens up later in the game..

They could probably do with Milner on to put some balls into the box over their defenders

Here is a thought for the day.

If England keep winning & Wales keep winning

They shall meet again, later in this tournament

England v Wales final anyone?

I think Kane should start. He'll be keen to get going, and they will have a packed defence which will suit him better than Vardy.

This is an oft used saying, but we really need an early goal against Iceland.

If we allow them to settle into the match they will simply give us the run around.

France or Germany will knock England out.

If England had won their group, they'd have had a good chance of reaching the final, but being in the difficult half of the draw where they will probably have to play France in the quarter final, then Germany, Italy or Spain in the semi final means they have little chance. Wales have a better chance of reaching the final, but that's also unlikely.

Having watched Portugal tonight, I think Iceland may be a lot tougher proposition than Portugal would have been

England doesn't really have many fans. We have a nation of whingers and moaners talking their team down while sitting at home in front of the TV. Seriously just read through all six pages and it's so depressing and sad. I hate this country sometimes, why can't we be more upbeat and positive?

We will win this game. We are better than them in every way.

The way you lot are talking we've limped into the second round. Well pundits in Iceland think they've been unlucky at having to play one of the best teams in the tournament so far tomorrow. They rate us very highly, and their coach thinks we're serious contenders for the trophy.

We battered Russia and were robbed by a last gasp equaliser.
We battered Wales for 60 minutes and deserved to win that one.
We battered Slovakia for 90 minutes and just didn't have any luck in front of goal.

We're playing very well. We have a very good team with a good blend of youth and experience. We have some very exciting footballers, and technically our youngsters are up there with the best in the world at last.

We'll win this by at least a couple of goals in 90 minutes.

Stop talking down our country and start celebrating the fact we have a very exciting team that has the potential to end our trophy drought. If not at these Euros, definitely at the next World Cup.

I think we do have a lot of fans, it's just that we also have plenty of moaners, and in general, they're the ones who post on forums, and ring phones ins.

Being the better side and 'battering' a team is a bit different!

Fully expect an England win tonight, which would mean 2 'home' sides in the QFs....which is great. (Am Welsh and also wanted the Irish teams to do well.) But said elsewhere that I do like an underdog and wouldn't exactly be gutted if Iceland pull off something remarkable, I do admit.)

Then again, are you the FM who wanted England to 'batter' and 'humiliate' Wales? And what are your thoughts on Wales v Belgium? Want another 'battering' of us uppity Welsh? If so.....c'mon Iceland!!

Seriously, think it'll be 2 or 3 Nil to England.

It seems Sterling is being tipped to start ,apparently he's impressed in training

That's what players have to do to get into the team.

It will be a bold decision by Roy, but if he plays at his best, he could be one that can open up a strong defence. I'm not a big fan, because he doesn't play at his best often enough.

If he has a blinder, and we win, it will be seen as good management, and if he doesn't, and we lose, Roy will go.

I think we will win whatever the team is.

I have heard that Iceland are basically going to try and take it to penalties and believe they will win once they get there. You cannot really blame they for using this tactic because we really are not very good at penalties. They are going to park the bus start till end and probably use roughhouse tactics where they can. The problem here and the BIG BIG HUGE HUGE MASSIVE PROBLEM HERE is that ROY CANNOT seem to understand that when a team parks the bus, 1 lone striker simply will not work UNLESS we have players behind that 1 lone striker who can cause a threat a REAL threat with shots from outside the area. The reason Germany destroyed Slovakia while they held us to a tame draw is because Germany have many players who can belt the ball from outside of the box and worry defenders and making them have to close them down fast allowing more space for the striker to operate. Roy does not seem to understand this and I know he will start with Kane alone up front again, who was extremely isolated against Russia with little service. We only have Rooney and AllI who can cause a threat from outside the box and I dont think 2 players alone is big enough threat to play with a lone striker against a team that will try and hold out for a draw. We do have Sturridge though and I hope he is given license to roam around a bit.
