Been getting some very intermittent picture breakup lately with my 1000s and Freesat TV.

So far I've only had problems with ITV HD, BBC ONE HD and BBC 2 HD alł Vertical I think, no problem with 5HD or 4HD. (Don't watch that much SD.) Very disappointing as the installation is relatively new done by myself all sealed and waterproofed, silicon grease, extra rain shield, quality cables etc and a Inverto octo LNB.

Turned on One HD to watch Rus V Slovakia and had really bad unwatchable picture breakup for a couple of minutes, the SD channel was fine. Slight breakup on the other HD V channels too but not as bad but then perfect picture quality returned and remained for the rest of the match ! Most of the time with the V HD channels it's just the odd bit of pixelating every now and again or none at all and the picture is fine.

During picture breakup there are fluctuations in the Bit Error Rate (normally zero) but the signal stays firmly at 100% & 100%.

So I've put back up my old Sky dish and quad LNB (after giving it a clean up and a coat of paint to cover the rust) and so far that's working perfectly with the same cables.

So I'm thinking my Universal Inverto LNB is faulty as the signal is 100% for both quality and strength and the cables are okay.

Could it be something else, can't think what could be causing interference if it's that ? (Not rain, trees or mountains in the way either).

Does the LNB match the dish?
"Sky" type dishes are unusual in that they are a horizontal ellipse, whereas most offset dishes are a vertical ellipse and centre fed ones are circular.
If the feedhorn of the LNB doesn't match the type of dish, then it can pick up all sorts of spurious signals reflected off of things such as rain soaked walls, for example, which can compromise reception.

Yes they match it's a standard smaller (Non-Sky) Technomate dish and an Inverto Universal LNB . It worked just fine for over a year, odd that it can be fine for hours now and then it will start playing up or play up and then be fine for hours.
At the moment I've temporarily swapped the 1000s over to my old Sky dish with Sky type quad LNB and kept the TV on the glitchy newish Universal Octo.
