When we think of Dusty, we immediately think of her 60s classics "Son Of A Preacher Man", "Only Want To Be With You", etc..
However, I think a lot of people forget in her later career she moved into 80s pop and had The Pet Shop Boys writing songs for her.

I didn't think the 80s sound suited her voice.

I think it did, and it showed she could move with the times and adapt really well

I remember in the 80s when it came on the radio I thought, is that it? Her voice sounded so thin and tinny compared with the 60s productions.

But I'll track it down and have another listen.

Not surprised to see it regularly appear in any "Songs That Reached Number 2 But Should Have Been Number 1" polls.

I liked the previously mentioned Nothing Has Been Proved ...along with In Private.

The PSB-penned songs Daydreaming and Occupy Your Mind (from her early '90s album Reputation) are also worth checking out.

Dusty's 1990 album 'Reputation' is fantastic and the best thing she'd done in decades. It gets a long overdue 3 Disc 'Deluxe' release in August too:

Thanks for the heads up! I prefer alot of her 70's material which is unfairly overlooked, though 'Memphis' is my all time fav, followed by 'Definitely'.

The voice had changed by the time PSB reached her, but, it was still good in its own way & all the singles off the album were gr8, imo.

I think they did a better 'all round' album with Liza's 'Results' though.

No mention of her actual only eighties album, 'White Heat'?
