Interesting article HERE, looks like Barclays are trying to shut the door on Google Pay.

Left them a couple years ago after 30+ years with them after they were taking the P with their overdraft charges for First Direct and could not be any happier.

Only thing that lets First Direct down if their app, but I never really used that anyway (even with Barclays) and the rest of their services more than makes up for it.

Go on stick it to Barclays and switch. It's so easy and they even give you £100 for switching.

I think you're missing the point - this should be about customer choice. NatWest have still to adopt Android Pay as well.

The only way to voice your displeasure with these institutions is to vote with your feet.

Happily using Android pay with my bank, however if you have a contactless card it is rather pointless. I was in the drive-thru at McDonald's and I had to either unclip my phone from the dock or just open my wallet and touch the card against their machine, it's actually easier to touch the card.

My main reason for not using it much is that it's largely pointless and unnecessary and much easier to use a 1mm thick piece of plastic from my pocket to just waive next the terminal.

So are people happy for the likes of Google and Apple to collect data on all the payments you make along with all the other data they collect on you every time you interact? At least with a bank's own pay app you know their intention with your data is limited to that of pushing their banking products.

You are assuming you always have your cards with you - I don't. I don't own a wallet (never have) but have the cards in a credit card style wallet. I only take this with me if I intend to buy something, otherwise they are not with me - unlike my phone.

Give Google everything and they then rule all banks, calling every tune.

I have been in situations where I had my phone but not my wallet, and I have found it very useful.

I've also been in the opposite situation and used my card instead of my phone.

I think it's good to have a choice.

So you mean instead of the banks ruining most of the world economies in 2009/10 and since and still holding global economies to ransom without any consequences for them.

Hmm! difficult call hey?

Not really. At least banks tend to pay taxes.

Are you claiming it doesn't work for everyone, or just you?

Works fine for everyone else!

Not sure what your issue is Pencil regarding Android Pay not working "for you" but it seems to work for everyone else. Even our dog is using it now to pay for his treats.
