Much of it seems reasonable and sensible.

Sounds fairly reasonable rules. I was actually surprised that the Pros didn't earn a lot more for doing the show.

How the hell would you set up you're own call centre?!

I wonder who leaked that to the press though? Can't imagine the Beeb will be too about about it. Reminds me a bit of that leaked contract X Factor contestants had to sign saying they're not allowed to slag Simon Cowell off anywhere in the Universe

Nice sentiment from well-paid Bruno at the end there.

The pros are underpaid though appearing on Strictly significantly increases their earning potential for the off season.

The rest sounds reasonable. They're expected to keep a certain 'look' for each series, accept wacky costumes from wardrobe, no public social media spats with their celeb

Not so sure about "bizarre". Think these rules could easily be summed up as dancers must behave themselves in a professional manner while representing the show. Isn't that what all employers demand of their employees?

"Dancers get £42,500 for five months’ work, during which they must “behave in a professional and courteous manner”.

The dancers complained about pay but judge Bruno Tonioli said last year: “If you don’t like it, stop moaning and f*** off!”

All seems perfectly reasonable to me - yes, maybe it's not that much pay, but the potential is there then for them to earn more in the off-season.

I agree with others, it all is quite reasonable. They are underpaid though.

And yet the same rationale doesn't apply to the hosts or the judges

Says a man who gets paid a lot more than the pros for a lot less work.

Lol I don't believe the plastic surgery one because some of them ( like janette for example ) had one. Nothing wrong with it because everyone is entitled to do what they want but yeah I just wanted to say that it's not true

about that Bruno's quote. Bunch of BS

And not do their own make up ? Pleaeeeeee another thing that isn't true

The article supposedly quotes the contract saying they can't 'significantly change their appearance'. Janette didn't, so her boob job isn't really proof that that clause isn't there. Of course they're entitled to have extensive plastic surgery if they want, but the show would be entitled to drop them if they did. I doubt, in reality, the show would take issue with bits and bobs of 'work' the pros might get done in the off-season - I remember Erin coming back with new hair, teeth and boobs one year .

There isn't anything in it that sounds especially bizarre to me and I imagine not doing their own make-up and hair relates to their appearance on the show, not in their free time , which seems perfectly reasonable.

I think they are clauses that most long running shows have - I remember Coronation Street being most out out when Lynne Perrie arrived with unsanctioned new lips.

The rules said "plastic surgery that would significantly alter a dancer's appearance...." The word to note is significantly. There are actually 2 strictly pros who have had work done in the last couple of years, but neither altered their appearance a great deal.

And make up ............... None of them, pros, celebs, presenters, or judges, do their own make up for when the show, or ITT are being recorded. The beeb employ a whole host of people to do that, which is no different from any other tv show. It doesn't mean they can't do their own make up the rest of the time.
