The question is, though, is this the way they're going to play to try and get through the rest of the tournament?
Will they simply sit back and half-heartedly attack for the bulk of the match and then try and win it either at the end of extra time when things are stretched or on penalties?

Agreed. Larger tournament and third place qualification from groups has encouraged defensive stalemates, while the attacking quality has also been generally poor.
