When they found the body at the beginning, was there actually anybody there who wasn't part of the plot to kill him? As far as I can remember, it was just Victoria and Daniel but they were acting as though they weren't expecting him to be dead, or am I misremembering (hope so)?

I just love this series. What can be better for a cold January night. Its light hearted and doesn't tax your brain - although I cant usually work out who did it. Ive been to Guadaloupe so its nice to see it again.
Someone mentioned that the volcano hadn't been in the series before, I did read that they have had to move to other locations on the Island as they've exhausted all the other ones. |

I thought this was a pretty poor opener TBH and not up to scratch with previous outings. It does not augur well. While it had all the usual ingredients it definitely lacked something. In particular I hated the stock characters and thought the acting was very forced and "amateur dramatic". I also disliked having the characters repeatedly providing a resume of the plot. The resolution was also not particularly good, akin to being given the summary of a book. I really hope it gets better as the series progresses but it really looked like they were just going through the motions.

The CCTV only covered the main area. The doorway and the torch storage area weren't in shot. If they had been they wouldn't have been able to get the stretcher out in the first place without being caught on tape and it would have been obvious that the victim had not left under his own steam and carrying a torch. The shots only showed the victim (or what appeared to be him) preparing to leave and heading toward the doorway. After that all is dark!
That said, again, I liked the episode and I love being back in Saint Marie during these upcoming cold few weeks. Absolutely brilliant of the Beeb to air this in January, just what we all need. |

Obligatory baseless cliche 'not as good as it was' post ... check! This forum is dangerously close to becoming a parody of itself at times!

Oh sod off, if you've nothing to say about the episode, what are you even doing here?
I'm open to criticism, but just "it wasn't good" isn't a lot of help in a forum environment. I think the story was solid (once I understood the CCTV part), there was humour what with the goat thing, and it was lovely to see Humphrey being awkward around his love interest. I've always loved this series for its humour and its attitude not to be overly serious. It's been fantastic for 5 whole series and it looks like it'll be the same for this 6th series. |
