Haggling

Hi.

I'm trying to find the cheapest pay monthly phone deal, and after much searching thought I'd found it. That was until I noticed Virgin Mobile don't offer 4G for non business customers.

My question is: Will new network providers offer better than advertised deals?
In the past I have haggled with my existing providers, but have never haggled with new providers.

I just don't want to ask (for example) 02 for a better than advertised deal if that's taking the pxxx.

Thanks

I would always try. The worst they can say is no.

Having said that, there's not a lot of reason for them to give you a better deal than others because for every you there are probably 100 customers who will pay the advertised price.

I guess I just have to catch the right person at the right the time.
If I could be content with 3G, I could get the phone im interested in for aprox 10 quid a month cheaper than anywhere else with Virgin Mobile. I've never used 4G.

Ok, I've narrowed down the cheapest monthly deals to Virgin Mobile and Tesco Mobile.

Although im sure both companies will be frowned upon a little here, can anyone tell me which of the 2 would be the better choice?

From what I've read, the following appears to be the biggest factor between them:

• Virgin has better network coverage but no 4G until October.
• Tesco has 4G but not very good network coverage.

Cheers

You could always look on phoneslimited.co.uk they show the cheapest prices for most networks and are usually a lot cheaper than direct.

I would go with whichever provider gives you the best coverage in your area, so just grab a Tesco Mob sim and a Virgin sim. I have personally been with neither of those providers, though up until last year I was on O2 and it was pretty average coverage.Virgin use EE, so is probably the better one out of the two if you don't mind waiting for 4G.

Thanks for that. Phoneslimited showed the 2 Virgin and Tesco deals, so think it'll still be between them. Yeah I can probably wait for 4G as I've survived until now without it, although I have been using a horrible phone that can't really cope very well with 3G. A brand spanking new phone might be crying out for 4G.
