Just been looking at Germany's tournament record since 2005 (around the time when things were starting to come together) ...
05: CC - 3rd 06: WC - 3rd 08: EC - RU 10: WC - 3rd 12: EC - SF 14: WC - Winners 16: QF (ongoing) |

The biggest disappointment at these Euros has to be Thomas Muller not scoring in four games against average opposition

Germany were on top form against NI, and continued today against Slovakia. Slovakia were lucky to get Nil.
There are harder tests coming up, but it will take a good side to beat Germany.(and France and Spain and maybe Italy) |

A serious question mark over the England - Wales group now? Wales laboured to an ugly 1-0 win over NI yesterday and needed an own goal to do it and now Slovakia taken apart by the Germans.
And purely playing devils advocate now - there's no evidence England wouldn't have thrashed Slovakia if we got ahead in 7th minute. |

This does highlight what a poor result the 0-0 was when England played Slovakia, they are a very average side and as shown today not even great defensively so it is slightly worrying that England couldn't score against them in 90 minutes.
You cant base a teams competence on the display of another game not involving them. |

Exactly. One game doesn't indicate how another will go, for instance Slovakia beat Russia, Wales beat Slovakia, England beat Wales.

That logic works though.. Russia went out in first round, Slovakia the second round, Wales through to qtrs.... England further still...?
