Coverage of the game will also be broadcast online at ITV Hub and on BBC Radio 5 Live and talkSPORT.

The two sides meet for the first time since their controversial World Cup play-off second leg in 2009.

They have met 16 times previously with 6 wins for the French and 4 victories for the Irish. France are unbeaten in their last 5 games against their opponents.

In major tournaments France are formidable on home soil - unbeaten in 15 with 13 wins.

Ireland are through to the knockout stages of the Euros for the first time, their victory over Italy was only their second ever win at the finals.

A French nation expects. Big favourites. Hosts. ROI just gonna go for it. Stranger things have happened!

Will be cheering for the Irish whatever....

Quite a few Irish fans think a big upset could happen today. The team had 4 shots on target against Sweden and 4 against Italy and had the grand total of 1 shot on target conceded in those two games : in other words, a team that poses a goal threat and that defends well.

The defeat against Belgium may have been something of an aberration. The team was set up all wrong and defended way too deeply right from the start and then made a load of uncharacteristic errors. I think O'Neill and Keane may have learned from their mistakes in that game and won't repeat them.

The line-ups:

France:
Lloris, Evra, Rami, Koscielny, Sagna, Kante, Griezmann, Payet, Matuidi, Pogba, Giroud.

Rep Ireland:
Randolph, Coleman, Duffy, Keogh, Ward, Brady, McClean, Hendrick, McCarthy, Murphy, Long.

Nicola Rizzoli of Italy will referee.

O'Neill going with 4-4-2 with Long and Murphy up front (same team as Wednesday). He's really going for the win so.....good to see.

really hope ireland pull this off... play like they did against italy & i reckon they have a decent chance... france have been underwhelming for me so far.

plus an england v ireland quarter final would be brilliant...

Short turnaround this for Ireland. Only 3.5 days after playing Italy, will be interesting to see if they tire late in the game. France have had 7 days to prepare on the other hand.

I'm not sure that's an altogether valid comparison, to be fair.

Sweden were one of the very worst teams in the tournament and Italy played their reserve team who just went through the motions.

I think the match against Belgium is a truer indication of what the Irish might come up against today; a side of quality players performing at somewhere near that quality on the field.

France haven't fired yet but you get the feeling that they just need a single catalyst to get them firing - and we may get that today.

Bottom line is I can't see past anything but a straightforward French win.

Best of luck to Ireland but I think they are going to need the French to be as flat as the Italians were to progress here.

And Ireland lead!

Robbie Brady's heart must have been in his mouth when he hit the post - but it went in.
