Go on Ireland!....

That's 2 French that will miss the next match.

These yellow cards are great news for Iceland, they have a huge chance to make the semi finals the way this is going.

France have allowed Ireland to drag them into a battle rather than a football match.

The number of suspensions they'll have to deal with if they do get through is one ramification.

if ireland do lose this getting half the french team suspended for the next match will be most welcome...

No, and its not been a dirty match.

Just silly fouls, most of which were completely unnecessary.

Ireland smother it away!

Payet took too long to shoot there, he was trying to work the angle too much.

Ireland have fought hard and whatever but, even though the penalty was dodgy, the French have been pretty shit.

Anyone going to try and tackle Payet?

I thought the yellows had been wiped and it was a fresh start for the knockout stages .
There will be nobody to play at this rate ..

Magnificent defending by the Irish, bodies on the line eveywhere.

Sometimes doesn't go as early as the last 16. In the World Cup I know they're not until after the quarter finals.

The cards really should've been reset after the group stages, so many players will miss the 1/4 Finals due to this stupidity and silly bookings.

Remarkable first half - and one that really couldn't have gone better for Ireland.

France have really been the architects of their own downfall; they gave away a silly penalty, fell into the Irish trap of not letting them play and really haven't found any sort of rhythm whatsoever.

Ireland have simply taken advantage of that - but they've played very well to do so.

Best performance from them in years : they haven't even tried to defend their 1-0 lead

I think it depends on the tournament, I know that in 2002 they got wiped after the first round but yeah I think it's the quarters here.
