HDMI Splitter stops TV remote working
This is really weird...
I just got one of these splitters to be able to run the signal from my Sky box out to another TV: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It does the job fine, but as soon as it's connected, the remote control for my TV (Toshiba Regza) completely stops working. If I want to switch source, adjust volume, turn it off, I have to use the buttons on the side of the TV, which continue to work fine. I have literally no idea why an HDMI splitter would have any effect on the TV remote... has anybody else? |

If your TV has HDMI-CEC on it's HDMI sockets?, try turning it off - as this allows signalling and remote signals from external equipment to control the TV, there may be something weird coming from the splitter jamming it.

Can't think of any electrical interference that could be responsible. |

Thanks for the suggestions guys, CEC definitely sounds a plausible explanation.
Sadly though, I can't find any CEC / Regza Link settings... and I'm not convinced the tv has it. It's a few years old, an X3030 model, in case you know where to find any more info (I found a manual online and it didn't seem to mention it). As soon as I unplug the HDMI the remote does indeed start working. And even when it's connected, if I'm on a different HDMI input, or on the terrestrial channels the control works fine. But the second I switch to the HDMI input that comes through the splitter, it's curtains for the remote! |

I'm thinking my best chance may be returning the splitter and trying a different model...

Couple of other things to try.
Swap the two outputs over on the splitter, eg if the Toshiba is on Output 1 plug it into Output 2 and the other TV from 2 to 1. Try it with the other HDMI lead unplugged from the splitter. Try a different HDMI input on the Toshiba. If nothing works then only thing I can suggest is try a different splitter. |

Just came across this... a cec-less cable. Wonder if it would sort it out?:
