As others have said,
understanding the appeal is what this is all about, not whether you actually like the artist in question. Which is where I have to take my leave because in the case of Kanye West I can't begin to understand what the appeal can possibly be, let alone what I've seen I
really don't like!
He headlined at Glastonbury last year and by all accounts was well received, but although I watched quite a lot of his set (I'd heard the name before but had assumed it was a girl, so was quite surprised when this bloke came on!) hoping to find something about it that I could relate to, I just found him so boring, self obsessed and downright, well .. erm .. rappy! Virtually every 'song' sounded the same and I couldn't make out many of the words, but then I find that with virtually all rap stuff. I'll be honest, I hate it but I can't understand the appeal either. I guess I need to hear from someone who's really into rap-type music to understand what they like about it.
