Coverage of the game will also be broadcast online at ITV Hub and on BBC Radio 5 Live and talkSPORT.

This will be only the 3rd meeting between the sides. There was a 1-1 draw back in 1982 and a 6-1 victory for England in 2004.

This is the first time that England have reached the knockout stages in two consecutive European Championships. Their last 4 knockout games in this tournament have all gone to penalty shoot-outs.

Wayne Rooney is set for his 115th cap which would equal David Beckham's record of most caps for an outfield player.

Iceland have only lost 1 game in their last 9 competitive matches. They are only one of 2 teams to have named an unchanged side for all 3 of their group games, the other being Spain.

A 2-0 win.

Sounds like Sterling and Kane might come back in.

If we win and play well, then I will continue to be happy with the tournament so far in terms of England's performance... If we lose, I and many others have every right to lambast the team. We have as nice a draw as we could have hoped for in this round. Come on lads!

If we make the quarters or beyond, I'm happy with the tournament and the prospect of Hodgson continuing. Go out tonight and he should go.

Sterling and Lallana on either side of Sturridge, with Rooney playing through the middle. That's how to beat the Icelanders.

I don't know will it?

He should be left out, or maybe test him out at half time.

Sterling should be used as a sub to run the legs off tired defences, nothing more... headless chicken.

This fits so well, I've seen this in particular used here:

As we prepare to play Iceland, the players and especially the manager are clearly being readied for a roasting should they do anything other than play brilliantly and win 5-0, in the sure knowledge they almost never do that. This is fear and loathing in action and this is how it works.

You repeatedly declare, “we should be beating teams like this, they only have a small population, if we can’t beat them, we don’t deserve to even be at the Euros. If we lose, It’ll be one of the major embarrassments on the planet,” and then follow that swiftly with a claim that England expects far too much of its hugely over-rated players. Breathtaking hypocrisy is one of fear and loathing’s trump cards.

But dont you think it's fair to be a follower and be positive about how we've done so far, and at the same time, be very critical if we do go out of the tournament to Iceland?

I haven't heard anyone say we should beat them 5-0. Most are saying they will be hard to break down

That is fair, but that's not really the kind of thing that article's talking about. It's more the kind of thing scattered around in places in this thread among others - http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2158377

"England have to be the worst team from the British Isles at the Euros"

"So it is England against Iceland next and they may even stand a chance of scoring a goal"

A lot of people are thankfully aware that Iceland are a capable team and not the Dog and Duck, but you get the posts about England that are almost seething in any suggestion that they might possibly do alright. Far better to get the Photoshopped turnips out.

For many, there is no middle ground with England. Anything less than a comfortable win, and we're rubbish.

We should be able to see where we stand in relation to other nations, and we're not in the top few, but we have a good squad now, and we can give anyone a good game if we play well.

We wont always play well though, because no team ever does, and often that is down to how the opposition play, which is the whole point of the game.

We should beat Iceland, but Portugal should have beaten them too, but that's not how it works.

Been happening for a few days now and getting worse if today is anything to go by.

I think 2-0 England tonight. We won't overwhelm them, they will be tricky to break down but I believe we'll get the job done.

Rumours that Rooney and vardy have fallen out over the high profile Mrs vardy seems to be developing, Rooney thinks it may be bad for squad morale.

I think only aiming for the quarters is pretty unambitious.

Sterling should be pretty fresh now so I expect he'll be running the opposition ragged.

You also have to consider that he's a bit rubbish though.
