Wayne Rooney is not a world class player never has been
He was in Euro 2004. He hasn't even been close since at international level.

The most embarrassing thing for me was that you couldn't even call it a fluke. Iceland often looked genuinely the better side. They had shape, good technical control and a desire to win.
They did the fundamentals correctly and built from there.

England didn't even do the fundamentals correctly.

Spot on. Hate all that nonsense about supporting other 'home nations'.
That is fine as we don't need your support

True but it should be possible to find 11 players capable to play at this level from the premier league.
If not maybe look in the Championship too.

Perhaps we should Brexit the World Cup and Euros and just have our own little competition against the Isle of Man, Guernsey, Jersey, Sark, Gibraltar....

we might get the semis !

Ian Wright tells it like it is.

I wish they would f**k off with this "We lost to ICELAND".

That is the exact arrogance that sets us up for defeats like this. Iceland deserve to be there. Leicester City proved what you can do with a well setup team of players who work together and know their roles.

We had none of that.

FGS - they are still demeaning Iceland just after they've won. These presenters would do your head in.

The bookies have some great managers to look forward to after Roy:

Gareth Southgate 4/1 fav
Gary Neville 6/1
Alan Pardew 7/1
Brendan Rodgers 8/1
Eddie Howe 8/1
Looking at those names, I refuse to believe there is a single England fan who still stands by that stupid mantra of "he must be English".

Can we have one of those two Iceland managers? They seem to have a much better idea of how to win a football match.
They probably don't spend hours over-analysing everything and just play

I dont usually agree with Steve McClaren

But he has got it bang on by saying

We played like indivduals not as a team
We always do, too many players belive their own hype, and believe that they are entitled to play for the national team, rather than it being a privilege.

Anyone going to start a petition to get the result changed, as I don't like how this one finished.
Pointless anyway - we'd still fail further down the line as usual.

Was this a shock

In qualifying, They qualfied ahead of Holland Czech Republic and Turkey

In the Euros, They qualified from a group containing Portugal Hungary and Austria

Smug boy millionaires whose pride comes from their ability to score sponsorship/ drugs/ lamborghinis/ gilfs had their asses handed to them from a side who are hungrier, prouder and better organised, and who were totally underestimated by these boy men.

Agreed Brendan shouldn't be ruled out because of nationality.

Exactly, what right do we have to think that we are any better then they are??

We have consistently failed time after time after time, we do not deserve to patronise any team.

I honestly don't think it's that. Perhaps the strikers maybe but the entire team doesn't play like that surely. I think it was simply down to Roy not having a fixed line up in his head and changing things far too much. No one knew their role or had any time to get comfortable in their role.

Is Murray still in Wimbledon? Not that I can bare a second of that rubbish.
How dare you!

He hasn't even started yet!

Because the quarter finals will now be full of paupers driving second hand cars.
