Stan Collymore: "Roy is reading from a pre-written statement. That doesn't bode well for his confidence, does it?!"

I just don't get it. We had a formation, we had a style of football, we had everything set in place to have a decent tournament. Why ditch all of that for out of form players, why ditch that for one player who's legs have all but gone ? It's just unbelievable how we do this in every single damn tournament, it's unbelievable that we never frigging learn.

People were calling it before the tournament started, i was one of them. We shoehorned Rooney in, nobody can deny it. He was bought in because he is Rooney, simple as that. Hodgson and the team ditched everything we had just to shoehorn that one player in.

Absolutely pathetic and i am fed up with it.

I support all the home nations, and the Rep of Ireland, and would be pleased for any of them to win.

Commiserations to you as you must have been as hacked as those in the studio ( and listening to them is quite funny when this is 'normal service resumed' from England) ...... you have not had a lot to celebrate over the past 50 years.
I was gutted when Wales beat Northern Ireland but I hope they still do well against Belgium.

Gary Neville and Ray Lewington have also resigned from their positions.
We need the head of The FA to go as well, the buck stops at the top.

Crouch said it was due to the pressure, but there was no pressure against Slovakia and England were also awful and clueless offensively in that match. It's surely more to do with the game plan than the pressure.
Its more to do with there is no thirst there to win, they get paid their thousands a week they are happy, no passion to win, oh and bad management, that certainly needs addressing after this.

Interesting point made on RTE there; Leicester City, Iceland, Atletico Madrid - no stars, but great TEAMS.
Comparison of Atletico to Iceland & Leicester - good one

Perhaps we should Brexit the World Cup and Euros and just have our own little competition against the Isle of Man, Guernsey, Jersey, Sark, Gibraltar....

we might get the semis !
Hang on, Gibraltar want better competition than that!

Hodgson's tournament record:

Euro 2012 - quarter-final
World Cup 2014 - group stage
Euro 2016 - second round

Just not good enough.

Isn't Rodgers a bit busy you know with Celtic??
Exactly.

Brendan Rodgers isn't walking away from Celtic after a few weeks.

Not a chance

Roy Hodgson totally lost the plot during this tournament, right now I can tell you if we were 2-1 down against France or another major country and we had been playing so poorly he would have brought Rashford on MUCH earlier. He was never aiming for glory, he was aiming for the quarter finals and failed miserably he was not bothered about topping the group and getting an easier path to the final and treated the final group game as a friendly. The players had no idea what the gameplan was, at all they got outplayed and outclassed in every department, Iceland were the better team and deserve to go through.

Even after so long out of the game, Hoddle would have done more with these players in a few months then Woy did in 4 years.

There definatly seemed to be a lack of passion from England's players. But also the players don't seem to have any idea what to do to form any attacking threat. It's pass, pass, pass then they hit the ball out of play. It was the same in Euro 2012 against Italy.

Same old England, same old results, same old complaints by the fans. It's like a stuck record.

We simply aren't good enough, and to often don't play as a team, great individuals but not a team. The only two managers to get them playing as a team over the past 30/40 years have been Robson and Venables, and even then Robson in both 86 and 90 stumbled upon the formula through injuries.

He's only got himself to blame. The likes of Kane, Alli, Sturridge, Vardy, Smalling, Walker and Rose have had fantastic seasons, they've produced some incredible football. That talent doesn't just disappear.

The formation, structure and balance of the team was all wrong, from the very first minute of the first game. His stone age tactics was nullifying the strengths of these players whilst exposing their weaknesses.

Griezmann aside, the point was that those are three teams who have proven the strength of a coherent team; as against immensely bankable stars.

Arsene Wenger would be interesting. Does he want to age twenty years inside the next few though?
