Would Townsend and Drinkwater have made a difference to England winning tonight
Townsend most likely, Drinkwater no. We didn't need anyone else down the middle.

Do you think Gareth Southgate could be another Joachim Low

Gareth Southgate over Wenger? Lmao, you racist clown Ian Wright. You haven't slagged off Hodgson even half as much as you've slagged of Sven despite Hodgson being a far, far inferior manager

So were looking for a:

New Prime Minster.
New leader of the opposition.
New trade deals with the EU.
New England Manager.

LOL, what a fracking mess!

Be Southgate I reckon ..

Tonight was just a shambles.

That was shocking!

Missed the first half but don't think we had a shot in the half I saw.

If anything Iceland had more..

There is losing and then there is just losing without even having a go..

Fair play to Iceland.

Those little clips of Roy on the touch line remind me of his Liverpool days. Out of his depth.

Ian Wright is a joker. He was mad excited about England before the tournament.

Slightly sadistic of ITV to play the "Way Out" bumper after the news of Hodgson's departure with Lewington and Neville

Surely the reality is that these were our best players.......it's not as though we've got a squad of world beaters sat at home

Our players just aren't very good by International standards when you get the top 20 teams around in one competition

Eddie Howe. Give him a go, see if he has what it takes.

Can they get Venables to hop on a plane from his hotel in the sun to have a short term crack at the world cup qualifying games.

Griezmann aside, the point was that those are three teams who have proven the strength of a coherent team; as against immensely bankable stars.
So not 'no stars' then since youve named one.

England will get nowhere until they pick players that can play well in their role, not massive egos that the FA want.

Leicester City did it without big names.

Does he deserve those players inflicted on him and his career?

One can only hope all those that proclaim Whilshire as the savour of the England side will pipe down somewhat after this tournament.
No one did that, you are being utterly ridiculous.

They did, but then all the big teams with the big egos do it every other year so I don't think that's the problem.

No. He is just another dull and safe corporate England yes man, just younger. It will be same old same old if they appointnent him. Which obviously they will.

Iceland defender Ragnar Sigurdsson:

"It went well. We didn't feel that they created any chances. We were just heading away long balls. I wasn't stressed in the second half. They thought this would be a walk in the park but we had faith in our ability."
Ragnar picking on the English again, its like watching Vikings again!

I feel he's a proven over-achiever. Roy has never done that, Southgate either.

Would a team of "Second rate" English players, Drinkwater, Caroll etc have done any worse than this lot?

Can't see it. And they'd have perhaps at least put some effort in.
