Might as well have released it before the game.

Don't tell sterling he's one of the best young players in the world after A few good games for Liverpool.... Don't tell Alli that he could run the England midfield for a decade by Xmas in his first full season in the prem.
Don't proclaim Wilshere as the person England have been looking for in midfield for a generation afte his first season.
Don't let Hart believe in his own hype.

Don't hang on to Rooney as a world class talent at least 5 years after he was anywhere near that.

Total and utter embarrassment. Iceland better technically.

How many times have the FA had a route and branch enquiry and come out with a new plan to improve things. Never works.

FA go for big money vanity projects like the FA academy and Wembley. Get in some Yes men and it all starts again.”

This country does not care about the England team anymore

It is all about the Premier League and which players each club will buy this summer

Hart has been at fault for 3 goals.
Rooney looked tired in the second half.
Smalling and Cahill passengers
Rose and Walker, the magnificent wing backs. overrated.

Hodgson picked the wrong squad and the wrong team.

I watched Spain Italy earlier on. Terrific game. Italy played short balls out of defence without a care. Totally in control. Spain looked good, but were unable to find a way through.

Glad I didnt see the game now. Went to see Adam Hills instead.

It'll be the same next time - sail through the qualifiers and then limp out when we meet a good team, or just a team with balls. What a load of shite

I am obliged to say that the players let Roy down.

Rot could not decide on which formation was best for the team

Roy could not decide which players which would fit in his team

Roy could not decide if picking a winger was best for the squad

I've backed England all the way in this tournament, and thought we played well in the group games, but that performance was back to the bad old days, and worse. As soon as we conceded the 2nd goal, the confidence, and discipline instantly disappeared, and never returned. It just got worse.

Players couldn't do the basics, and it got worse with each minute.

Well done Iceland though. They maintained their levels, and were very organised.

Yes they lost to Argentina.................on penalties............after heroically playing with ten men for nearly 75 minutes. England had more flair, heart and passion under Hoddle then anything we ever saw under Woy.

Rooney should retire from international football. If Messi can, Rooney definitely should.

These players have all played well before, and have to take the main responsibility here. Their heads went.

Well if their heads went then I think that was mostly down to them not playing together as a set team consistently. He was making far too many changes. 5 per game on average. That's not the way to get a team of players confidently playing together. God knows what he was up to. I was hoping we'd hear more about his thinking but it appears he's not going to talk.

Absolutely thrilled for Iceland.

Congratulations!

This is the reason i slated us against Wales,,, we havent created nothing all tournament, look at the goals we scored all tournament, its not been good enough,, people saying oh but we dominated etc.. you can have enough possession as you like, but if you cant create chances you won't do any good.

Who's fault , Hodgsons, the team he picked was unbalanced, picking favourites and not having a plan B , no balance in the squad to change it up when needed and playiing square pegs in round holes, having said that every player tonight was awful.

I knew we weren't good enough under hodgson from the 2014 World cup, he should have been sacked then imo,,, qualifiers mean nothing they are like league games, we need a team to play tournaments, and we have never had that in the modern game, but if you put someone like Hodgson in charge you never will.

How bad was Group B? Slovakia beaten 3-0 by Germany yesterday, England beaten by Iceland and Wales had one shot on target against NI on Saturday.

Rooney looked like a man aged 45 tonight. It was cringeworthy watching him huff and puff around the field like Phil Mitchell in a pair of shorts. Retire from international football now you clown.

I don't really see a golden generation here. On face value England stormed qualification but in truth the standard was so poor it just felt like a series of friendlies. England have always been workmanlike teams but we have had talisman capable of outstanding goals and moments of magic-I don't see anyone currently rising above the crowd in an England shirt.

I don't know why his name keep's getting bought up, what has he done in the last 10 years ? He's done bugger all. The last team he managed was Wolves in the 2006 and that ended in a bad way. The guy is exactly the same type of manager we always go for, why are people asking for it again ?

Like you say FrostyJim, you only have to listen to him commentating, he hasn't got a clue. He's dated, and he can't offer England anything now. The game has moved on from the likes of him.

He took a player who hadn't played for his club all season, bar a few mins here and there for Arsenal at the end of the season. He ditched a player who was instrumental in helping Leicester win the title. He dumped Townsend who was playing really good, despite Newcastle going down. I was actually supportive of him taking Rashford and why he didn't bring him on earlier tonight I don't know.

Here's a thought for the next manager. Pick players who have actually played a season and not been injured for the duration of it and play them in their best positions not pick them just because you feel you have to. So if you have two players that are both good in a certain position then pick one player but don't pick the other player and play him out of position.

What a dismal performance with just two exceptions in Vardy and Rashford neither of whom had enough time to make a difference really.

Kane hasn't been great and should have been left out for Vardy and Rooney was so poor in the second half it's untrue, his time as an England player is over for sure.

Hodgson never seemed to know what team was best nor what system they should use and he never struck me as a man who would inspire players to up their game.

One wonders what he said at half time 'cos they were actually worse afterwards.

He was terrible tonight, a shadow of his barnstorming youth. No doubting his passion for England but he did look over the hill.

He picked the best players. They are supposed to good enough to adapt.

Germany slaughtered both Slovakia and N Ireland. Could have 7 or 8 in both games.

We struggled to test the Iceland goalie.

You could see the right way was with Vardy and Rashford, not just with players from Roy's favourite clubs.

I can't believe we stormed qualifying so easily and put in this pathetic performance in the tournament.
Time for a change and style of manager.
