There was a couple of times when Vardy was on the edge of the box, and a ball over the top might have been on. At Leicester, the ball would have been played instantly.
Here the ball just went sideways or backwards. |

Why is it always the mangers fault (they get sacked) when it could be just our shit players?????
![]() I have said it a few times tonight, England had everything in place before the tournament began to at least get to the Quarter Finals playing good football at the same time. He ditched all of that though. He changed the formation, the style of football, some of the players. Why change so much when everything was going so well just before the tournament begins ? it's madness. I'm not necessarily blaming Rooney, but it's shoehorning him into a position that he has never played that has cost us. That one decision changed everything . Our formation, our style of football, our attack, everything has changed. The players weren't used to playing that way, they have never played the formation and style of football that we played throughout this tournament for England. Hodgson had it right in the qualifiers and the friendlies and he ditched it, he's an absolute idiot. |

Raises question marks about Wales for me if England could beat them with a disorganised side not playing good football (and the Welsh goal was due to a Hart error).

If he would of actually allowed the players to express themselves and attack England with numbers they could of won that game. |

I was watching the game tonight and i did not see one cross into the box
Why is Sturridge playing on the right when he is left footed Why is Sterling playing on the left when he is right footed If it is not working, why dont they switch sides |

Dear England,
It's rubbish being out of Europe when you don't want to be, isn't it? Your pals, Scotland (Shamelessly pinched from Facebook!) |

Watching Sky Sports news just there, someone saying how he felt "so sorry for the players, cause this result is going to live with them forever". I mean, fair enough, England were the clear favourites, but Iceland aren't exactly San Marino either. They didn't lose a match in their group, they played great tonight, give credit where it's due.

I was annoyed wirh the England post match conference. No chance to question the Manager about the game just a pre written resignation speech then away! He should be held accountable it's a privilege To be a country manager and one where you have to justify everything. You're representing a nation. The way he arrogantly dismissed any questions from his PR was disgusting.

Hodgson made me concerned when he was talking before that game tonight about we had the players to go on and win tournaments in years to come ,, the silly idiot needed to be reminded we were still in a tournament, the dozy sod almost looked surprised and said flummoxed,, we can with this as well, gave me no confidence at all.

The players have been criticised, but the manager is the one who set this up.

Don't know how anyone could argue Rooney deserved a place in that side, it was either a start up front or no place at all. |

Likewise yourself. I'm talking about the start of the game, until they scored the 2nd goal, which I admit was not long, but it was confident, and we looked as though we would win at ease. The 2nd goal changed it all, and we went to pieces.
The second Iceland scored the look in the players eyes told it all as it wasn't going to "plan" (whatever that was) . They had defeat written all over them, just go back and look again if you don't believe me DP. After the second goal, yep the team did "go to pieces", but they had lost the plot long before that. |

Watching the Italy-Spain highlights after watching England-Iceland, it's like watching a different sport. The sharpness, the pace, the invention...

I'll admit that after the qualifying round I hoped that he was turning the team into one that at least could compete at this higher level, sadly I was totally wrong. |

To me, that didn't just show contempt for the fans who watched that farce of a game, it also was poor when his players were still out there. Did he not think he could have gone out there and commiserate?. I know that it isn't much, but wasn't he supposed to be their leader?. |

I've backed England all the way in this tournament, and thought we played well in the group games, but that performance was back to the bad old days, and worse. As soon as we conceded the 2nd goal, the confidence, and discipline instantly disappeared, and never returned. It just got worse.
Players couldn't do the basics, and it got worse with each minute. Well done Iceland though. They maintained their levels, and were very organised. I thought they played well in stages in the opening games too but as soon as they hit the knockout stages they just seem inhibited and afraid, to be honest. It's a familiar story. |

Yeah something not right there. The pre-written resignation statement is equally odd. Maybe he had already decided this was his final tournament and was just waiting to go out.

We qualified easily for this year down to a change of rules in the qualifiers, which meant pretty much everyone would qualify, even in a group we could have won we were poor, we stared off with a fantastic first hafl against Russia, one of the best i've seen us play in tournament football for years, but then Hodgson completely missed the flow of the play and we suffered for it, we never looked the same since. |

Haven't been overly impressed by them so far - I think the fact they have Bale in their ranks too makes it hard to regard them as a true underdog like an Iceland or a Northern Ireland.

That was a bit bonkers post-match. He should have just spoken from the heart.
