I loved her song 'Get It On', does anyone else think it's a shame she gave up music? I also have her solo album.

Her giving up music was for the best. She was constantly failing to reach the Top 10 with her crappy dance songs.

I re watched her Totally Scott Lee series on youtube recently and cringed all the way through. Her desperation to reach the top 10 and continual failure to do so was tragic beyond words.

Her melt down at finding out she was top 30 in the midweeks despite being B Listed on Capital Radio was some of the most embarrassing telly ever.

It's not all about Top 10 though. She should have persevered.

Always been jealous she didn't get to sing much in Steps. Probably because she isn't too great at it.

Hate to butst your bubble but plenty of females has released dance songs before 2004. She gave up music as no one wanted to buy her rubbish and her record label dropped her.

Ahead of her time? Dance music has been around for years and years, and the dance music she was making wasn't even good. In fact, I wouldn't even refer to it as 'dance'.

God, she was awful. I always remember one interview where she claimed she wanted to be the new Kylie. A classic example of somebody so desperate for fame they will do almost anything.

Err....she was a Lidl version of Rachel Stevens if anything who was releasing much better solo music from the same era.

It is true that it's not really dance music. I guess it is sort of easy-listening dance-pop. I liked her but I don't mind being in the minority.

I think the media and public were real a33es to her for no real reason. Really harsh

Yeah, LSL's music was pretty standard and unimaginative. To make things worse, she always seemed like she had a huge ego (even by showbiz standards) and was a
control freak.

Some of her solo stuff was OK at the time, nothing which holds a legacy of any sort. But she was part of one of the biggest pop bands of the 90s with two songs which still get played often at parties (5678 and Tragedy), so I doubt she's overly upset about a failed solo career.

I don't get STEPS. Kind of a cringe-fest. I know people might feel that about her solo stuff, but I thought it was better. I would happily admit to being a LSL fan but not a STEPS fans to be honest (and I'm not). Having said that, I don't mind Stomp, even if it's cringey.

At that particular time the top 10 was everything, you were likely to get dropped if your single didn't make your top 10

If lsl was ahead of the game you could argue dannii minogue was even further ahead of it, releasing the likes of who do you love now as far back as 2001

Didn't mind Too Far Gone but out of Steps I'd say Lisa had the weakest vocals (hence Claire and Faye taking more of a lead, Claire especially).

Funnily enough when one of the above comments mentioned about other females releasing dance music Dannii was the first example that popped into my mind. She's been releasing dance tunes since All I Wanna Do in 1997. As for Lisa, the last thing I remember her from was that awful ITV2 reality show from a few years back in which 'celebrities' had to work as cabin crew, I think it was called "CelebAir" or something. I only remember her single Electric and it sounded like heavily dated tosh then, and this was about eleven years ago! Didn't it contain the line "I'll buzz like a vibrator"

Don't get me started Dannii Minogue is great. And you're right, charts were everything at that time. Such a shame, I loved the dance stuff LSL and Dannii did. At least Dannii has a vast back catalog.

I agree. Press Play/Summer of Love was great last year, I wish it was pushed more, it had potential to be a big hit but just wasn't for some reason. Club Disco was amazing.

Good call on Dannii.....she is the original club queen with her poppy dance anthems
All I Wanna Do was very modern and different for the late nineties and she continued with some great stompers up to the mid-naughties.

You Won't Forget About Me is undoubtedly her best work. Always thought that. She deserves so much more, but she lives in Kylie's shadow. I've always thought Dannii was better, she was more sure of her musical identity.

Oh good old Lisa Scott-Lee She never knew when to give up did she. I remember getting many a laugh from that tv show of hers, most of them unintentional on her part I'm sure.
