Im not going to list the 20 or 30 better choices, you'll only rip them all to bits one by one whilst suggesting something absurd like shearer would be good.

Take Hiddink, I wonder why Chelsea thought him a better bet than Hoddle? Or Everton preferred Koeman. Even Spurs took the rather lame Sherwood ahead of Hoddle when Hoddle made it very clear he wanted the Spurs job after AVB was sacked.

............ and the game hasn't changed since 1970? It changes so fast its not even the same as 2010. Look at low percentage possession Leicester winning the Prem in comparison to the possession based tikka-takka of 4-5 years ago. And the huge failure by Dalglish (and damian comolli) in buying Andy Carroll and the two most prolific crossers of a ball from the season before in Downing and Henderson to supply him. 2 goals from 800 crosses later and dalglish gets the boot. Didnt Moyes at ManU oversee a game against Fulham where they had 88 (hopeful) crosses. And the less said about LVG and his previously successful football philosophy going down so well at ManU the better.
I get what you are saying about managers and I don't know that much about Hoddle and his problems. I just remember him being a good England manager. It was a time when I very much enjoyed watching England games.

I disagree about the tactical changes. Leicester won because of a few factors, not least of them being Ranieri playing players in their correct positions. Counter-attacking football has always existed. There are different football philosophies (and I just read a book on this ) but England adopted the most awful kick and rush style that has plagued them for years,

I consider Koeman to be a very good coach, but unfortunately he (like many other managers who already have good jobs) won't take the England job.

As for LVG at United... I really cannot understand what happened there. He was successful as late as 2014 and none of his teams have ever played as awful as United did. I think it was very much a case of mismatch between LVG and United. He still got some great young players into the first team (which has always been his strength) and won at least something.

I see the FA are going to ask Stuart Lancaster for advice - well he did manage to get England out of a World Cup at the first hurdle!

Surely asking his successor in Eddie Jones might be a better option?

Anyway... who are these other better options than Hoddle?

I can't see any good English manager in the Premier League (or out of it) and if Hiddink or Blanc are the alternative, I don't see why Hoddle shouldn't be given another chance.

Shearer has spoken a lot of sense on Monday, so maybe he should get a shot, but the FA are clearly not in favour of that. I don't see any alternatives.
Shearer is a failed manager who hasnt shown any of the qualities of a good \England manager, he has openly agreed with managers sticking by players who are out of form showing them loyalty, when the loyalty should be to the team and fans.

I'm pretty sure he would have took Wilshire and Henderson just like Hodgson, we need someone who can forget player loyalty and pick in form players, else we will never do any better in the next tournament has the last 2

So the poll on sky says harry is the most popular choice. This is why we should never choose the manager based on public opinion. To be honest it doesn't matter who the manager is i don't believe we'll ever win either the euros or the world cup at least not in my lifetime.

League - Union is Eddie Jones who is another Aussies doing a very good job after the mess that was the World Cup (when Stuart Lancaster was in charge)

Maybe not popular choices but big Sam or Harry for me.

It might be helpful if we actually start playing as a team and either of these guys should have us doing that imo.

I hope Redknapp is kept as far away as possible, he's a conman who's managed to get away with it for years.

'Arry must be raging he doesn't have a club to drive in and out of the training ground taking to Sky. I bet he's just driving round London with his heading hanging out of a Land Rover window begging for someone to interview him.

Hoddle on itv last night saying he is flaterred by the interest but has had no contact with the FA but if they wanted to, he would be happy to talk to them if they wanted him involved in any capacity, not just manager. Its what you would expect him to say, to be honest, he is not going to give anything away even if they have talked. I dont think it will happen, the FA are far too clueless.

Doesn't matter who England gets....there is not a manager out there, that would be able to perform miracles...it's about time England accepted that they are a over hyped mediocre team.

This tournament just about proves what it means to have a good manager and what happens when you don't have one.

Last night, the team with the better manager won!

Having a good manager is a good part of the jigsaw. However, lets not pretend that having good players offers no advantage.

So what's the excuse in the past, when we have had good managers?

Except the reality that we are vastly overrated and always have been.

McDonald's have had to ban him from their drive-thrus as he holds up the queue talking about how he's interested about bringing in a lad from Burger King

They also had a squad that have been together for a good few years, and have no pressure on them. They are supported whether they win or loose, and the media are not in hyperdrive over every result.

Coleman said they do not fear losing, and that is a massive thing. England do fear losing, because of what follows every single time they lose.

Coleman could manage England, and he would soon get both barrels if they were not winning every game. Every England manager gets it, and it rubs off on the players.

Our media and fans have to take their roles in what goes on seriously, because nothing will change whilst expectations always remain above reality.

Exactly, you would think they would realise by now....and when they were written off they won the WC.
