It's not just playing games in the Prem, it's who they play for - does anyone think that Rashford would have been selected for England if his break through was at West Brom or Sunderland rather than Man Utd? I seem to remember Phil Jones at Blackburn and Chris Smalling at Fulham, neither were close to England call-ups, both move to Man Utd and suddenly they're both in the England squad.

The problem with England is the managers seem to think they have to pick their players from the big clubs or CL sides rather than look further a field at the lesser clubs, then when they've picked all the big name players, feel they have to play them in the side even if it means playing them out of position and not picking someone who would likely do a better job as it's their main posiiton.

She did nothing to help players in a similar way. Nothing whatsoever. In many respects, she did damage to players. A sports psychologist is a trained professional. A faith healer is either a charlatan or mentally ill. That's the bottom line.

For point two, we are not preventing a person working due to their religion. But when they bring their religion into the workplace that is not acceptable. Asking employees to see a faith healer for a calf strain instead of a medically trained physiotherapist is not acceptable.

It's not just what he said, but also what he did whilst in post. After such a complete mess, he cannot go back. He was rightfully sacked and should never have worked in sport/ the media again.

Of course he should be forgiven. He's not a mass murderer. He made some inappropriate comments.

Allardyce can only rescue teams from relegation. He doesn't have what it takes to cultivate success.

He also apologised for any offence caused. You cant stop him working for his beliefs. or we could apply that to anyone with religious beliefs, which to me all sound crazy, and to many others.

The players had proper physios, and the option of something else that may have done them some good, in the mind or otherwise.

As well as Hoddle, Darren Anderton, Ian Wright, and Paul Merson all claimed she helped them.

Big Sam as England manager? Blimey, you can almost hear the media sharpening their knives and pleading that he get the job. The fans who complain about everything England related would also have a field day. In fairness, whoever gets the job will get the full treatment anyway.

It's not hate if it is a religious belief. He doesn't hate disabled people, and his comments were stupid, as many from all religions are.

Things have changed a lot since those days, and no one would be made to see her now. He still knows plenty about football, and plenty of people who have played at the highest level, and also understand football, back him.

What makes Hoddle a better candidate than Hiddink?

We're not in that position. We have a good young squad, who had a match that was beyond belief in terms of poor.

They have shown over the past year that they can become a very good team. Time to get someone in who can develop them, and hopefully get some public support for a change.

Hoddle would take the job, although I think he'd be mad to. One of the main complaints about Roy was his age.

Guus managed teams like Russia and South Korea so I don't think it's unrealistic that he would consider England, especially with the money likely to be involved. Age shouldn't be an issue if it's a top manager. I think he would be a good holdover candidate to take the next campaign while others improve. The likes of Neville, Lampard, Terry etc. will have to get their skates on and get some managerial experience in. It may even be an idea to appoint someone like Howe as an assistant so he can be familiar with the set up and step in after 2018.

You cannot hide behind religion. If he said black/ white people were being punished, or gay/ lesbians were being punished, or Muslims etc each would be unacceptable.

Try it tomorrow in your own workplace. If I did so in mine I would be suspended before lunchtime and rightly so. No hiding hate behind 'religion'.

To be fair in order for that comparison to work you would have to be from a standpoint of believing that being gay, black or muslim disadvantaged you in the same way as a disability in order for it to be considered a "punishment" which doesn't really work.

Trouble is with Hoddle he would make Ross Barkley his main man, always seems to make him man of the match when he plays, that in itself makes me feel he is not the man for the job.

It's not a perfect analogy granted, but he still looks upon children with disabilities (of all kinds) as being disadvantaged and punished by God. It's sick and twisted. What sort of warped mind believes that?

Can you imagine someone like that with those views, commenting to the parents of a disabled child "well he did bring it on himself, serves him right" as that's what he is saying.

He is very lucky to still have a career, when many whom have said less, are ran out of town.

If he did take the job, if the fa are stupid enough to offer it, within a few hours there would be campaigns and petitions to get him sacked. I would be first in the queue to sign it.

The comparison is incomparable. Whatever his religious belief was didn't say that.

I agee that what he said was bonkers, but if some religion believes that, it is no different to some of the other crazy religious beliefs out there. It is nothing to do with personal hatred, and is not criminal.

His belief is his own business. Articulating it is another matter. He made the statement and in doing so his beliefs have alienated him. Thats his fault. You can't have a figurehead for the country who represents the country coming out with that.

Does the fact that we have to have this debate not tell us that Hoddle isn't worth the hassle? Why him of all people?

I am still puzzled as to why his name is even worth entertaining for the job, we should be looking at someone with a C.V. of management in the past few years at the very least, as a bare minimum.

Hoddle should be used as a sounding board to see which other candidates should be on the final list.

Your missing the point. Rashford has played only a handful of league games and already has 3 England caps. No one knows how good he is, only time will tell. Premiership history is littered with "flavours of the month" who faded. No one knows how good Rashford will be. The point being, is that playing for England should be something that you strive for, something that you earn, not something that is given to you after a handful of games as a first teamer.

I fully agree, I was not for taking him to these Euro's, I would much rather have seen him still playing with the younger national sides.

Sadly it does seem as though once you get a senior cap, that is the end of playing for the "under" sides, no matter how much better it would be for that particular team, and for the player.

It was about 17 years ago though . Maybe someone should ask him what his current stance is on those matters . I'd be interested . Hopefully he's changed somewhat in that time and sees the error of his ways .

That's the point I made a while back . There are dozens of top rated ex pros putting Hoddle's name forward and I've only seen one speak against him ... Gary Neville who's own stock isn't very high anyways , at the moment . Neville is also Beckham's best mate and Hiddle and Becks didn't see eye to eye at all .
