That's the point I made a while back . There are dozens of top rated ex pros putting Hoddle's name forward and I've only seen one speak against him ... Gary Neville who's own stock isn't very high anyways , at the moment . Neville is also Beckham's best mate and Hiddle and Becks didn't see eye to eye at all .

exactly what i said above.
Imagine Hoddle, the england manager, at a pr event with children playing disability football and explaining to them god is punishing them in this life for mistakes in a former life! Hoddle is lucky that he had a short and unsuccessful career in football afterwards, when he sould have been gone from the game and punditry. It pains me that he is still on TV eve, and its shocking that people are considering him for the top job again. Who next, big racist ron? Hoddle managing a football team is small fry in comparison. Hoddles religious beliefs, no matter how wrong they sound to me, are no more crazy then someone else saying that when we die our souls all go and live on a happy cloud above the sky or if we are bad we go and spend eternity in fire and hell. Its all poppycock to me. |

Ex pros (who also failed for England) sticking up for their own isn't really that great of an endorsement.

It was about 17 years ago though . Maybe someone should ask him what his current stance is on those matters . I'd be interested . Hopefully he's changed somewhat in that time and sees the error of his ways .
Then we could discuss that his lack of management for the last 10 years is not acceptable. |

I'm guessing they know more a bit more the game than the actual people tasked with finding a new manager and certainly more than any of us in here .
I don't buy into them knowing much at all. Their actions show this. |

We're not in that position. We have a good young squad, who had a match that was beyond belief in terms of poor.
They have shown over the past year that they can become a very good team. Time to get someone in who can develop them, and hopefully get some public support for a change. We are in that position. We are in the doldrums. Wow. |

To be honest its all irrelivent as I probably have more chance of getting the job then Hoddle does, which is a shame.

See to me thats half the problem. How on earth can you say we have a good young squad ? Based on what ? Tournaments are where you prove that and they didn't.
We are in that position. We are in the doldrums. Wow. They are inexperienced, and young, and that maybe contributed to the disaster against Iceland, but to write them off as hopeless is just going down the same old route we always do, whoever the manager is, and slaughtering them all the time does not help confidence. |

His belief is his own business. Articulating it is another matter. He made the statement and in doing so his beliefs have alienated him. Thats his fault. You can't have a figurehead for the country who represents the country coming out with that.
If we want a perfect individual for the job, we'll struggle, because the press seem to find out any dirt on the England manager as soon as they get the job. |

He said it years ago, and apologised for offence caused, and said his comments were misinterpreted.

There is dirt, like Harry, dirt like **** ****** and his injunction, but Hoddke cannot say and do those things and hope an apology cuts it. It wouldn't in any hr department in the country. |

They played very well in the friendlies over the past year, including beating Germany and France. They played well in the first three games here, and they've all played well for their clubs.

Playing well in friendlies is what we always do and then when it comes to the crunch we fail. That's the cycle we have to change, young or old.
Hopefully enough people will support them, rather than continually abuse them, which is of no help at all. |

That is religion for you. Some call for death against those who oppose them, but we dont sack everyone with those religious beliefs. He has not acted against disabled people, quite the contrary, and certainly has no hate towards them. |

He has not acted against disabled people, quite the contrary, and certainly has no hate towards them. Imagine for instance Hoddle was a primary teacher, with a disabled child in class. During parents evening he expressed to a parent that it was his belief, based on nothing but illiteracy and a lack of education, that he thought their disabled child was being punished by God because they were evil in a past life. He would be immediately suspended and then sacked. Of course, Hoddle should have been sacked the moment he suggested a use of a faith healer. The man is a vile, backward thinking embarrassment to the game. |

How long are we going to go round in this circle about Hoddle's stupid beliefs?

They know a bit about their profession, as most of us do about our own. |

You would not be England manager if you called for death to those who opposed your religious views.
He apologised at the time, and lest face it plenty of famous people have misunderstood their beliefs, and looked fools at the time. Cat Stevens got in a right mess, but learned more as time passed, yet some people still hate him. Muhammad Ali is everyones hero, but look at some of the stuff he came out with. |

I'm not denying that all religions are complete madness, far from it. But you cannot have incompatible beliefs, and state them, when in certain professions.

To be honest you probably will do as good a job, we haven't had any success in 50 plus years, with any of the managers...so whoever gets the job it really is irrelevant, because we are not going to win anything.
