What is success? Simply winning a major tournament? There is no wonder we have this eternal grief when the bar is set at that level, and anything less is deemed a disaster.
In England's case then yes...as anything else is losing.

No, and nor did Hoddle, but religion gives people these beliefs, and we cant just sack people who support such beliefs. That example is way beyond what Hoddle said, but many religious beliefs will look stupid when said out loud.

He apologised at the time, and lest face it plenty of famous people have misunderstood their beliefs, and looked fools at the time. Cat Stevens got in a right mess, but learned more as time passed, yet some people still hate him.

Muhammad Ali is everyones hero, but look at some of the stuff he came out with.
Neither Cat Stevens nor Muhammad Ali were representing anyone other than themselves though. It's not the beliefs themselves that are the issue its proclaiming them when in a position where you are marginalising some of those you represent.

It proves they can play well though, and any game against Germany is serious for both sides. The mentality certainly needs attending too for tournament play, and this squad has plenty of time to get it right.

Hopefully enough people will support them, rather than continually abuse them, which is of no help at all.
But the public do support them, always. Just look at attendances and TV ratings.
All we get in return is failure.
This group totally deserves the grief they are going to get at away grounds this season.

You seem to have a strange irrational hatred for Hoddle. You do realise that the bible itself mocks the disabled. Therefore anyone who follows the bible must agree with that view (amongst the other ludicrous things in it). Do you want these people sacked from their jobs ?
I will repeat myself, you can have awful religious beliefs, but you cannot use them in your job.

I'm quite happy to be served in a supermarket by such a person, but the second they told me I was going to hell I would want them sacked.

My dislike of Hoddle is not irrational, it's because his views are vile .

The very opposite of irrational do you not think?

Not for me. He's as good as retired, the managerial equivalent of a player hitting their 30s and joining an MLS team.

So on this thread we have gone through every possible person who would be suitable to manage England

But no one has mentioned Vicente Del Bosque

Except me

Do you think it is possible we could get him on a short term contract and get Gareth Southgate to work with him as he can learn from him and get more experienced, so when he leaves at the end of the next World Cup, Southgate can take over as manager

I suppose he can speak a bit of English

I dont think it will be that hard for him to learn

Did Roy Hodgson speak decent English because most of the time i could not understand a word he said. No wonder he was shit at his job

Vicente del Bosque is leaving his job managing Spain. He's had rather a stellar record at international level.

Pathetic comment and symptomatic of why the England job is so poisonous.

Your own posting skills aren't the last word in use of the English language half the time but people don't feel the need to point it out or judge you for it.

Yeah

The irony of this poster

Mocking someone else

For their speaking and communication skills

Strikes me as pretty ridiculous

And quite nasty.

What i meant was when he said stuff about England playing well and talking like England are good team

I was not talking about the way he speaks, i meant that most of the time he did not talk a good game

I said that he did not speak decent English because most the time he was talking shit

Thats why i did not undestand a word he said

Not because of the way he spoke

It was what he used to say most of the time

How can people defend this complete ridiculous shite these players who all play in the Premier League put out there?! I just don't get it. Ok, the media is bad, but the poor fans who are used to over 50 years of failure don't expect much at all. They just wanted this team of professional footballers to at least give a bunch of semi-amateurs or part-timers a good game and at least try! That's not too much to ask. I don't see how it's the fans' fault or everyone else's fault except those players (and the non-existent manager) who were so fricking bad that Iceland just walked all over them and they didn't even look like they could ever score a single goal from open play.

Honestly, Russia and England are the two teams that stood out for playing the worst football in this tournament.

So you think the way he speaks bothers me

Well it dont, because I dont even notice it when he talks

But it seems that some people on here do notice that he has problems when he speaks

Did i actually say that he has speech problems

No, you assumed that is what i meant

Because i dont see you having a go at people who call him Woy, which i think it is wrong

And i have never called him that or anything like that since i have commenting on these forums

Also i have never insulted anyone on this forum or anyone else that has been talked about on this thread

All i care about is how good a manager he was

And he was not a good manager
