Other than Sam, who then do we go for?
There isn't Sam is the best of a bad bunch.

One thing about Sam is he won't take much messing

The Mirror's got Gary Neville as being NEW MAN's assistant whoever it is. Magic!

All those Journos, Pundits, Commentators, who have called him Big Sam for years, will have to get used to calling him Sam Allardyce.

If he is given the England job, you have to feel for Sunderland just when they thought they had stability
Another good reason to give him the job.

Well we only scored right at the death against Wales, so it wasn't as if it was a case of beating them comfortably or anything like that, if anything it should really have been a draw at best for England.

From there we just capitulated big time under pressure from Iceland, as they had a gameplan, whereas it just looked as if Roy said, "meh, it's only Iceland, just go out there and beat them.
Oh and Harry, your still on set-pieces okay?!".
So you're still pretending late goals are lucky (unless it is Man Utd that score them).

So, the new manager is already getting slated, before he's even got the job. That's how it goes with England.

I'd not take it as any slight on Allardyce or whoever else though, it'd be the same regardless of who gets the job.

These people wouldn't 'support' a club like this, so it mystifies me why they see it as acceptable with their country.

In this instance, I am saying that we were fortunate to beat Wales, and that really a more fair result would have been a draw.
Perhaps in a way, the reverse might be said for example about the Russian game, where a win might have been a more fair result, when we drew the game.

It wasn't lucky, it was late. Wales let England play and suffered, England couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo against Russia and suffered.

Of course it wasn't lucky against Wales. It wasn't a fluke of a goal, and it was scored during the game, a game England dominated.

They dominated against Russia too, and should have scored more to prevent the late equaliser, which was a bit of a lucky header, and one that never looked like coming all game.

Fair enough then, either way, we were not all that impressive in any of the games at the tournament.

Interesting take on Allardyce being a good thing for the job.

Sunderland have made a statement

The Football Association contacted Sunderland AFC to seek permission to speak with our manager as part of what was supposed to be a confidential discussion process with potential candidates for the position of England manager.

At Sam Allardyce’s request, we agreed to this.

Sam is very much key to our plans. After what was an extremely challenging season, we are keen to see a period of stability, both on and off the field, and we want him to remain as manager of our football club.

The ongoing speculation over Sam’s position is extremely damaging to Sunderland AFC, particularly at this crucial time of the season and we urge the FA to respect the disruption that this process is causing and bring about a swift resolution to the matter.

If it is to be Big Sam for the national team role, then I wonder who will be his replacement at Sunderland??

And with Allardyce gone, they might actually go down now.

It's not a forgone conclusion Sam will get it, they are talking to a few including Klinsman apparently.

True, but with a different man in charge, they might become.a bit of a better team to watch.

Outside of their own supporters I doubt anyone cares.
