I watched the world cup without supporting a team - it was great!

I watched the Euros without supporting a team, but i wanted the home nations to win (i dont buy in to the home nation rivalry garbage). I wanted Nireland to win, Wales to win and scotland - if they had made it.

It was great!
You did a staggering amount of complaining about all things England on here for someone who wasn't bothered about them and wasn't supporting them!

Big sam is currently favorite to be the next england manager

No doubt people will still support england after he is appointed

is there anyone they could appoint who would make you say, "not for me", and you wouldnt bother watching england in the qualifying for the world cup?

For me, personally, it was Hodgson, and in the future it would have been hoddle.

For you though, could they appoint anyone and you would still watch?
So if Chelsea gave the managers job to someone you did not agree with you would stop following them?

Who in this time of little choice, would be your pick for the role?

So you supported the Home Nations, but not England? You're not an England supporter then are you? That makes you nothing more than the equivalent of an Arsenal supporter constantly moaning about Spurs in a Tottenham thread.

I think that England should consider either Harry Redknapp, Gus Hiddink, Patrick Vierra or David Moyes for the role.

Wow, shows how far we have slipped if those are some of the names people are putting forward for the role.

You've put forward Laudrup and De Boer, who have less going for them than some of the candidates mentioned in the post you've quoted.

This is the same Harry Redknapp who wondered why Leicesters Wes Morgan hadnt been called up to the England squad? even though he plays for Trinidad, lol.

Says the person who nominated Michael Laudrup for the job.

He did quite well with Swansea and win a league cup with them before falling out with the owners, and played some nice stuff whilst he was there, so I don't see why he is that bad a shout, not in this market where the options are threadbare to say the least.

He's not necessarily a bad shout.

Unless it's coming from the same person shooting down other people's suggestions and previously saying appointing Gus Hiddink would be "rewarding failure".

How's he any better than Hiddink? Or David Moyes, who also did a good job at Everton?

david moyes has been a terrible failure in his last two appointments, and has won nothing. zero, zilch.

He is out of work, and cannot get a gig in 92 clubs so far. Why on earth should he waltz into the top job?

Yeah, Moyes is clearly a ludicrous suggestion. I mean, none of the 92 league clubs would touch him with a barge pole.

He was laughed out of the car park, at Chesterfield.

We just have a very small pool of people to select from, so no matter who is appointed, it will most likely be a disappointment.

Has Laurent Blanc got a new gig, yet? I'd have given him a tap.

Doubt it, he hates the press apparently...gets an easy time of it in France, and still doesn't want to speak to them.

That's a nice way of getting out of justifying your position, I suppose.

No need to say why Michael Laudrup would be a better choice than the failure Gus Hiddink when we're going to be disappointed anyway.

Huh?

I did justify my option, by saying that the pool of available people that could reasonably assumed to be in line with a chance of getting the job, is not that wide, or deep, so whomever The FA decide will be a disappointment to a large sway of the public.

As for the Laudrup v Hiddink bit you are referring to, well both would yes be coming off of not too successful a time, however on a purely personal level, Laudrup I believe has more going for him then Hiddink, who is getting on in years.

But this is purely my opinion, you or others may disagree and think Hiddink is a better option, and fair enough then, I have no quibbles about that being the case.
