Agreed........I wouldn't mind Big Sam or Bruce
England are not a Barcelona, they're a West Brom we need the kind of manager that takes a West Brom and get them to mid table we need someone who can get England back to being a quarter final team like we were 10 years ago then we can think about moving up from there |

What a load of rubbish, the only reason they were a west brom is because they had an ex west brom manager in charge, put Sam or Bruce in charge and we will be a Sunderland or Hull.
The players we have available are capable of being a Tottenham, we just need a pochettino to manage them Let's try and become a top half team before we think about Top 4 |

I also think you underate what he did at Bolton and West Ham too because he's at Sunderland, who looked dead and buried before he managed to get a very poor bunch of players working as a team. The FA have to get the right man this time as they certainly didn't last time around. |

I don't think there was any evidence to suggest England were arrogant at all. Id suggest the opposite was true especially against Iceland, the players looked fairly terrified altogether. Perhaps a bit of arrogance would have been a good thing.

A little bit of that. I don't know if the England team took Iceland for granted but I think a large part of the fans and media did and that's always asking for trouble. For whatever reason, they looked drained of confidence once Iceland hit back.
I think there was a bust up behind the scenes too bigger than reported and it maybe had a knock-on effect on morale. I know the media made mention of the FA not being happy with the team picked for Slovakia, and hinted at other sources of unhappiness. I've no evidence of it being a bigger issue than reported but it's the impression I got from it all. Maybe there was a massive bust up immediately post-Slovakia and from then on the team spirit, confidence and everything else was shot? Or maybe they just got out fought and out played on the night, saw the headlines after everyone saying they would win, and couldn't respond positively? I don't know. My feelings are Iceland are/were better than some people made out and had shown that in the past, England aren't at the top level and are always vulnerable against anyone in knockout competition, and there seemed to be something off about the lack of response to the equaliser. There was effort, of course, but they looked very lacking in belief to my untrained eye. |

Good club managers don't necessarily make good international managers. An international manager can't just go and spend £40m on the latest overpaid nugget.

Yep there all possible explanations too. I just wish we knew for certain what caused the meltdown. Maybe we'll find out for sure in years to come as the dust settles.
As there certainly is money to be made about telling the public at large just why we were so rubbish this summer. |

Won nothing , nothing as a manager, not good enough for England as a player Zero international experience Zero experience managing a team who is in contention of winning What an absolute shambles |

To be fair we've already had a manager with vast amount of experience in capello and we still didn't win anything. There has to come a point when you stop looking at the manager and start looking at the players.
Just because managers have proven themse;lves to be utter garbage, and not even making sensible decisions like only taking fit players to tournaments, doesnt mean we should continue that trend with guys like Steve Bruce. Steve Bruce! What on earth has he ever done to deserve even a chance at the role, aside from being english? Good experience of managine a side in in europe? No Experience of managing abroad? No Experience of playing abroad? No Experience of playing at an international tournament? No Experience of being in an international dressing room? No Experience of managing players that are world class? No Experience of managing "top top" players? No Experience of Winning anything as a manager? No Apart from a spell with Birmingham, his resume reads "sacked after 2 years", usually 1 year, and sometimes before 1 year. He has been with Hull a while, but relegated them! Its a joke that he is even being interviewed. he would be a complete and utter disaster. |

He's won the playoffs and promotion a few times so I'd have him high on a certain list of managerial candidates, but more the list you'd find Neil Warnock and Mick McCarthy in than someone I'd want heading off to a World Cup.

It's to make the prospect of Allardyce more palatable to the general public. So when he gets the job, instead of whining, the reaction will be "It's not so bad, we could have had Steve Bruce"

Experience of playing abroad? No.
Pretty sure that he played (and scored) abroad, during that run. Not that it's particularly relevant to an England manager, but there you go. |

The problem is they think doing the job right is ticking boxes and dont have much a clue what they are doing. |

Apart from leading his club side all the way to the European Cup Winners' Cup.
