Have Rooney and Cahill quit international football as well, given what he said?

Seems like he prepared his resignation prior to this game. He had no self confidence in his ability at all. Joke of a manager that should have resigned after our exit in the World Cup.

Do you think something happened behind the scenes that stopped him managing the team properly

This ^^^

It was the manor of our World Cup Exit that showed he simply did not have a clue in Major Tournaments

Not sure how much of a shock resignation it is seeing as though his contract was up.

Hes struck me as being very downbeat and unenthusiastic throughout the tournament. Much more so than his normal demeanour

Hopefully the players will be doing a "shadow cabinet" as well....

I always thought those who said Hodgson should've been sacked after the world cup were harsh as I thought we were unlucky to have been in the same group as Italy and uruguay plus Costa Rica who turned out to be the star performers in that group. However, maybe you and others had a point after all.

Yes the players.

Harry Kane taking Free Kicks and Corners. Sterling still getting into the team when he looked so out of form all season.

nothing explains some of these very odd choices

He always looks like he he is clueless every time the camera pans to him but that is what those in charge wanted of course.

Yes. I think he discovered his players weren't terribly good at football.

Not sure why but when I noticed he was reading a pre-prepared resignation statement I wondered if something's wrong. Couldn't explain why it was just a gut feeling.

Have no sympathy for Hodgson, he showed utter contempt for the fans tonight when he walked straight down the tunnel, not even waiting for his "talented" players to come off.

I know this wont happen, but the entire FA structure needs tearing down.

I Googled Roy Hodgson's salary...

£3.5m per year.

Nice pay day for a big lump of failure!

I agree. I also doubt he'd of willingly stayed on after this result anyway. But I get a weird sense he was already informed his contract wouldn't be renewed regardless of what he did at the competition before he stepped foot in France.
