Whoever thought it was a good idea to book them for Reading Festival... not least on a day where Rage Against the Machine were playing

My understanding is that they lasted longer on stage than 50 Cent during his own later bottling extravaganza.

Not true unfortunantly.

I was there for 50 Cent (I didn't bottle though... don't agree with it, but it was a spectacle!) and it's kind of an urban legend that he got bottled off stage.

He didn't at all... sure he got bottled, a lot of bottles in fact, but he played a whole set none the less. He also had a table full of bottles of water, ready to throw back at the crowd. Was quite funny in the end

Curiously, talked to two people today who were also there who put his on-stage time at between 15 and 25 minutes (of a planned one hour set). I'm not saying anyone's right or wrong, I just like how drastically peoples' memories of the same event can diverge.

Though everyone seems to agree that Fiddy had a paddling pool thrown at him.

I feel like my entire 90's music collection is full of flops. Here are some I loved at the time..waited on the album, but it rarely came.

Deetah, reggae rap chick witha dodgy eye. Loved her song, Relax.

Lutricia McNeil, still jam to Stranded and Aint that just the Way. She also had, Someone loves you honey.

Anyone remember Hinda Hicks?

Loved Kleshay, they had two smooth rnb jams, reasons and Rush. Rush was ace...think two of them were related to the honeyz..sister and cousin IIRC.

Then there was Juice, they sang Best Days.

Blaque Ivory who were managed by Left Eye, they sang 808.

Was into Billie Myers who sang Kiss the Rain...still good song.

Then you had 3LW...you can or ya cant, cant, be a man, be a man man...no more...baby Im a do right.

What about Joan Osbourne...what if God was one of us.

So embarrassed to say I liked all of theae, but add The Solid Harmonie album and the Precious album is shameful, no? :-P

Also still listen to the first BBMak album. Ghost of you and me and Back here Re top notch.
Am I the only one who remembers Caprice's attempt at a pop, career, Oh Yeah..are ya happy to se me...?

That's enough embarrassment for a first post.

Was reading about Billie Myers just the other day.

I recently thought about Blaque and strongly remember them appearing on UK television claiming they wanted to be called "Black" but were prevented from doing so, causing them to opine that some folks had "a problem with 'Black'" (seemingly not realising there was already an act by the name of Black).

However, have found that the name derives from the name "Blaque Ivory", a group formed by one of the members prior to being discovered so the claim seems even more bizarre.

Like many of the acts discussed in this thread, they seem to have had a longer and more complex career than generally realised.

Also, dont' worry about embarrassment. I have BOTH Babylon Zoo albums and I'm fairly sure I briefly had the second D:Ream album (and not the first one). Also, somewhere I still have "Check Out the Groove" by Undercover. We're all friends in this thread.

Was going to say her, she had dreadlocks IIRC and was out the same time as Leilani and Lolly, none of them could sing...and they were all late 20s, early 30s posing as teens.

Christian Fry anyone, wont you stay was his 'hit'.

Matthew Marsden who managed to bag Destiny's Child as back up singers before they took off on a track called, She's gone...one of the funniest flop facts surely.

cool info. I remember the name crisis is alright. The girls were also in a film called Bring it on with Kirsten Dunst. They were on the Clovers team and all had speaking parts.

As I pointed out as well she was'nt a flop first time round either.

Her Album, Robyn is here was huge in America.

Her success actually prompted Jive Records to find a young American female...and so came Britney. Robyn was actually discovered by a singer called Meja who sang, It's all about the money and Private Emotion with Rikki Martin.

I remember an early interview with Britney in which she said, and I quote, "there aren't many pop acts out there now, I mean you have the backstreet boys an Robyn...but that's about it"...I have a weird memory.

In another twist of fate, Robyn wrote Piece of me for Britney's comeback. You can here her bv's on it.
