England Least Worst Player of the Match- England VS Iceland
We all know that the team was a disgrace tonight. But out of all England's players, who performed the least badly? Who didn't humiliate themselves? Who provided the glimmer of hope for the future of the England football team?
For me, it has to be Marcus Rashford. |

Rashford.
Thought it cruel though to bring him on, as even if he goes on to truly great things will bring up this game for the rest of his career. |

Rashford put the rest of the England team to shame, as he did far more in his short cameo then the rest of the team put together.

For me Rashford, who didn't put a foot wrong, and brought life, energy and hope, wasn't on the pitch long enough to see if he would slide into the mire with the rest of the team: I said some days ago in the thread on which is England's best team that we should seriously consider starting with Rashford rather than Kane or Vardy, so I am not knocking the lad at all. Instead of Rashford, then, I have chosen Dier, who did what was expected of him, didn't let the team down or put a foot wrong and was substituted by the truly woeful Wilshere. None of the other England players gave a performance that was acceptable in my view in what was an abject, collective failure: the defence was an embarrassment, the midfield unimaginative, the attack toothless.
I note Walker and Rooney, who were England's best players for the first two matches and were rested for the third, both played their worst game for England in this tournament - so much for the benefit of resting them against Slovakia. |

My vote went to Danny Rose
I discounted Rashford due to him only playing for 5 odd minutes although he clearly did more in that time than anybody else! Including taking a corner😤 |

I dont think Rose did too much wrong. Sturridge lively but more first half. I actually think Sterling wasnt too bad first half, he won us a lot of dangerous kicks, Rooney was decent enough until around the 60th minute,

Marcus Rashforad was England's best player by some distance!
That tells you all you need to know!

Rashford by some distance, but I'm surprised Vardy hasn't had at least a few votes as I thought he at least showed some effort to fight for the ball and get in good positions (like making the most of Sturridge's absolutely abysmal hospital cross).

Rashford, which seems crazy since he was only on for such a short period of time but with his trickery and pace had he been put on at half time (which he should have been imo) I think Iceland might have given away free kicks, possibly another penalty because of him, He also looked like the only player capable of creating something.

Rashford was a breath of fresh air when he came on 30 minutes at least too late and showed pace, determination and creativity.
Think Vardy tried hard and Rose too but we should have started with Rashford and Vardy also don't know why he dropped Lallana thought he played quite well and he shouldn't have played Wilshire. But then so many poor performances it's hard to know where to start.

Rashford, he done more in the 4 minutes he was on, than Stirling has done in the games Stirling was picked.
Unless Adam Lallana was injured, i don't get why he wasn't picked Monday night. |
