I was hoping 5Live wouldn't cover our game against City tomorrow as that would have given me a excuse not to listen to it... I'll have to show solidarity to the boys now though and hope we don't get too imbarissed.

talkSPORT 2's commentary team at Liverpool v Hull City tomorrow will be Simon Humphreys and David Fairclough, with Ian Danter hosting Matchday Live 2 and The Full Time Phone-In from Anfield as well. talkSPORT's usual Saturday 5.30pm commentary team of Sam Matterface and Stuart Pearce will call Arsenal v Chelsea. I think Fairclough is a good appointment, I've not heard him for a while but I used to rate his co-commentaries on ITV's Champions League coverage when he was a regular part of their team around the turn of the century. talkSPORT's midweek Champions League commentaries will be CSKA Moscow v Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday and Atletico Madrid v Bayern on Wednesday, although the latter will air on talkSPORT 2 while the main station will do an Around the Grounds show - with Celtic hosting Manchester City, both games involving British clubs are being played in Britain that night, with them usually only providing commentary on UK clubs when they play in continental Europe. Although it's not listed yet, I think talkSPORT 2 will be broadcasting commentary on Hapoel Beer Sheva v Southampton from the Europa League on Thursday at 6pm. I believe there will also be a Championship Around the Grounds show on talkSPORT 2 on Tuesday, which has become a regular fixture on Champions League Tuesdays. Quote:

Without spoiling any results or the semi-final line-up, next week's semi-finals have been confirmed as taking place on Thursday and Friday night, both being 8pm kick-offs. Hopefully talkSPORT 2 will be able to provide commentary on both matches - although I imagine they'll stick to the recent set-up of joining Mark Wilson and his co-commentator just prior to kick-off should coverage follow on from Southampton's 6pm Europa League kick-off and new 6-8pm Friday show The Weekend Starts Here respectively. The Super League Grand Final is on Saturday 8th October, which happens to be a World Cup 2018 qualifying weekend. England are at home against Malta that day in a 5pm kick-off, with Scotland and Northern Ireland then being at home from 7.45pm. As such, talkSPORT won't have any live football commentaries but I expect they'll offer their usual Around the Grounds offering - on Leagues One and Two from 1/2-5pm, before switching focus to the internationals. As such, the Grand Final will probably be on talkSPORT 2 - although they should be able to have a good 45-60 minutes of build-up as it is a 6pm kick-off. I reckon Matchday Live 2 might carry commentary on one of the 3pm Premiership rugby union fixtures that day beforehand. |

Almost two months into the season, I don't recall hearing Ray Parlour providing punditry from a 3pm game - he had been a regular in this role for a number of seasons, but I believe his Sports Breakfast co-presenting commitments have increased this season which may explain his absence from Matchday Live. talkSPORT 2 Ian Danter presenting Matchday Live 2 and The Full Time Phone-In from the Anfield alongside David Fairclough, followed by La Liga Live with Adam Bridge Premier League Liverpool v Hull City - Simon Humphreys and David Fairclough (3pm commentary), with Graham Beecroft conducting post-match interviews La Liga Las Palmas v Real Madrid - Adam Bridge and Matt Lawrence (7.45pm commentary) Danny Gabbidon, who is providing commentary on Swansea City v Manchester City for the main Matchday Live, will join Dants and Fairclough for The Full Time Phone-In. talkSPORT Live Premier League Manchester United v Leicester City - Dan Windle and ? Mark Lawrenson is Today's regular 2-3pm pundit, but he rarely (if ever?) co-commentates for them. Newstalk 106-108FM Ger Gilroy presenting Off The Ball alongside Nathan Murphy, Dave McIntyre and Eoin Sheahan Premier League (as IRN) Manchester United v Leicester City - Darren Stannage AFC Bournemouth v Everton - Adam Lindsay Liverpool v Hull City - Paul Anthony Middlesbrough v Tottenham Hotspur - Al Ross Stoke City v West Bromwich Albion - Clive Edwards Sunderland v Crystal Palace - Stephen Goldsmith Swansea City v Manchester City - Sam Fleet BBC WM 95.6 Paul Franks presenting BBC WM 95.6 Sport from Villa Park Premier League Stoke City v West Bromwich Albion - Rob Gurney and Tony Brown (3pm commentary on 95.6FM) Championship Queens Park Rangers v Birmingham City - Richard Wilford (3pm commentary on DAB in Birmingham) Wolverhampton Wanderers v Brentford - Mike Taylor (3pm commentary on DAB in the Black Country and Freeview channel 722) Aston Villa v Newcastle United - Mark Regan and Garry Thompson (5.30pm commentary) League One Peterborough United v Walsall - Tom Marlow |

Rus Williams is presenting Scores on LBC News. The show uses the same reporters as Newstalk. I wasn't aware that the show had moved. I thought it had been scrapped completely.
Viking 2 is still not providing commentary oon Hull City's City. There is no mention on the station's website, and their Twitter account gives the impression they thiknk they're on air. I would not be surprised if the commentataryy team are still ccommentating. |

Returning to BBC Sheffield still can't understand why Chesterfield is covered by BBC Sheffield when up to a few years BBC Derby only had one league team to look after.
As regards to BBC Sheffield not covering home games with full live coverage. Does it make any difference to attendances etc Radio football commentary is something you dip in and out of. How many times have you ever heard footall fans say, must get back home to listen to the radio football commentary. I am aware Chesterfield is right in the top corner of Derbyshire, on the borders of South Yorkshire Todays:- On FM was Scunthorpe United v Sheffield United. Andy Giddings alongside Keith Edwards. Andy also did Football Heaven Build up between 14:00 and 15:00. on MW/DAB was Brighton v Barnsley with Adam Oxley.# Jonathan Buchan was reporting on Sheffield Wednesday v Nottingham Forest. He also hosted Praise and Grumble after the matches. Rob Staton reported on Rotherham United v Cardiff City. Matthew Shaw reported on Bury v Chesterfield. Paul Fisher reported on Luton Town v Doncaster Rovers. |

Tuesday 27th September - talkSPORT and talkSPORT 2
Mark Saggers presented Kick Off: Champions League Live (on talkSPORT) Ian Danter presented Kick Off: Round the Grounds from the Pirelli Stadium with Adam Virgo at Griffin Park (on talkSPORT 2 from 7.30pm) UEFA Champions League Group Stage CSKA Moscow v Tottenham Hotspur - Jim Proudfoot and Danny Murphy (7.45pm commentary on talkSPORT 2) Leicester City v FC Porto - Geoff Peters Championship Barnsley v Aston Villa - Naz Premji Birmingham City v Preston North End - Tom Ross Blackburn Rovers v Sheffield Wednesday - Simon Humphreys Brentford v Reading - Ian Abrahams and Adam Virgo Bristol City v Leeds United - ? Burton Albion v Queens Park Rangers - Dave Easson and Ian Danter Cardiff City v Derby County - Laurence Mora Huddersfield Town v Rotherham United - Alan Biggs Ipswich Town v Brighton & Hove Albion - Tony Incenzo Nottingham Forest v Fulham - Jack Woodward Wigan Athletic v Wolverhampton Wanderers - Dom McGuinness Following the resignation of Sam Allardyce as England manager, all of the night's live football coverage was moved to talkSPORT 2, with the commentary on CSKA Moscow v Tottenham that was due to be on talkSPORT being moved to the secondary channel along with updates from Leicester and the night's 11 Championship games. I didn't hear the show live, so am unsure of who the station's reporter at Ashton Gate was - if anyone knows, I'd be grateful if you could share it on here. The main talkSPORT only took pre-match team news on the Spurs and Leicester games and a full-time report on the former fixture, such was the dominance of the Allardyce story. Going by talkSPORT.com, Atletico Madrid v Bayern is going to be live on talkSPORT with Around the Grounds on talkSPORT 2. I imagine that will likely change with the commentary moving to talkSPORT 2 and more Sam Allardyce talk dominating the primary station's Kick Off for the next few days. UEFA.com Rob Daly presented Champions League Matchday Live alongside Andy Brassell UEFA Champions League Group Stage Borussia Dortmund v Real Madrid - Richard Connelly and Andy Brassell (commentary) Leicester City v FC Porto - Mark Scott It's the first time I've heard Richard Connelly on a radio/audio football broadcast this season, with him having been the international feed commentator on the football tournaments at the Rio 2016 Paralympics for Channel 4 and other English-language TV channels earlier this month. BBC WM 95.6 Richard Wilford presented BBC WM 95.6 Sport from St Andrew's Championship Barnsley v Aston Villa - Mark Regan and Garry Thompson (7.45pm commentary on 95.6FM) Birmingham City v Preston North End - Richard Wilford (7.45pm commentary on DAB in Birmingham) Wigan Athletic v Wolverhampton Wanderers - Mike Taylor (7.45pm commentary on DAB in the Black Country and Freeview channel 722) League One Walsall v Scunthorpe United - Rob Gurney |
