This coming a week or so after they did a special phone in on Di Matteo's sacking which I know was delayed because of Rowett's appearance on the regular phone in but even so, we didn't get a phone in for our managerial change or takeover, Albion didn't get one either when they were taken over, yet Villa did for the takeover, Di Matteo's appointment and Di Matteo's sacking. So in the last 6 months they've done 2 special programmes and at least 3 special phone ins for Villa, 2 of their 4 regular phone in pundits are former Villa, with not one ex Wolves guy on since they dropped Froggatt and he only got on he was ex Villa too

This time I agree with you, at least on the FM/DAB split point. I get the impression that they did two distinct commentaries due to them supplying Aston Villa's official website with audio commentaries and wanting to have the usual Villa-leaning service available for them, rather than the even-handed commentaries with a co-commentator representing each club that we usually get on derby matches. It'll be interesting to see if we get a similar two-way split for other derbies, starting with Birmingham v Aston Villa in two weeks. Of course it's hard to know if this was going to happen for the first Birmingham v Wolves derby given that their planned Wolves co-commentator dropped out, in any case their lead commentary team seemed stretched that day with I think five matches being covered including Solihull Moors plus some Warwickshire cricket.
Like you, I thought they'd put the Wolves slanted commentary on FM and the Villa one on DAB going by the usual convention of having away teams on their primary FM platform when games clash. So you can view this (and I knew you would as soon as I heard about it!

) as being an example of them favouring Villa over their other clubs, although I think the fairest way to judge it is to see what they do when it comes to Birmingham v Villa in two weeks and Wolves v Villa later in the season. If on those occasions the Villa-slanted service is on DAB with the home clubs on FM, then clearly they would be acting even-handedly, in the same way that I expect Wolves commentator Mike Taylor to get the Wolves v Birmingham match seeing as Blues voice Richard Wilford covered the reverse fixture.
As for the phone-ins, without treading back over old ground I can't fairly comment on the ones regarding takeovers earlier in the summer as I wasn't listening to the station regularly at that point, but I think adding an additional hour to their phone-in to reflect on the sacking of Robert Di Matteo on the night of his departure was fair enough in the circumstances. Obviously it was a big story fans will have wanted to react to on the day, but with Gary Rowett having been booked in for weeks in advance to field Birmingham City fans comments between 6-7pm on that day, it would have been unfair on him and the Blues faithful to have changed that plan at short notice. So I think (and hope most would agree) that what they did was a very good compromise solution.
