Thanks for the information Franchise, I know Joe Rawson has covered Leeds United and rugby league for Radio Yorkshire and he's also reported on the latter sport for talkSPORT a few times.

Also, it looks like Peak FM have moved to a two man commentary team this season. I notice from the article on Chesterfield's official website announcing Joe's arrival on Peak and their Spireites Player service as well as from a few recent Twitter messages that Phil Tooley, who has for a long while been BBC Radio Sheffield and Radio Derby's Chesterfield reporter, has been joining Joe on commentary for a number of games. They were the commentary team for Peak FM at the Ricoh Arena last night.

It's been all change for Peak over the past few months anyway, with former commentator Pete Farries leaving over the summer and then Total Sport studio host Tom Hilton moving on to Gem 106 at the start of last month. Not sure who, if anyone, has replaced Hilton - might it be a case of Rawson and Tooley hosting from the grounds?

talkSPORT 2's live Premier League game this Saturday is AFC Bournemouth v Sunderland with Alex Crook and Danny Gabbidon, with talkSPORT doing commentary on the games in their regular timeslots - Chelsea v Everton on Saturday, then Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur (12noon) followed by Liverpool v Watford (2.15pm) on Sunday.

talkSPORT 2 are only covering two La Liga games this week - Real Madrid v Leganes (11am) and Sevilla v Barcelona (7.45pm) on Sunday with nothing on Saturday. TS2's main commitment aside from their live football is the Paris Masters tennis, they have coverage between 10am-2pm & 6-10pm tomorrow, in the latter of those timeslots on Friday, prior to the 3pm commentary in an extended Matchday Live 2 from 1pm on Saturday with the final going out between 2-5pm on Sunday.

Spurs vs Leverkeusen - Ian Dennis & Andy Townsend

Very rare CL reporting duties for someone who isn't John Murray, Alan Green, Ian Dennis, Conor McManara or Alistair Bruce-Ball (Who I expected to do Leicester based on the other assignments).

As for Mick Lowes, I thought it was health reasons as to why he misses matches fairly regularly?”

Mick Lowes retirement has just been announced by Radio Newcastle. His last game will be 26th November vs Blackburn.

Matthew Raisbeck will take over in the interim until a permanent replacement is appointed.

Wonder if they'd bring Justin Lockwood in. He's currently match day host (but not announcer)

Justin would be a good shout. Did the commentaries for a good few years on Metro and then Century/Real Radio when they did commentaries.

Disappointed with the Mick Lowes news. I grew up listening to him and I wish him well for the future

Interesting timing for him to be going mid-season. Either way I wish him well because for me, he's miles better than some of the identikit network commentators, who've got nothing of interest and speak in that same accentless, uber-professional, uncontroversial style.

I do hope he reappears elsewhere. Supposedly he'll still be doing stuff with Radio Newcastle - they haven't said quite what though.

Occasional stand in for TotalSport perhaps? He'd be a decent fit for the Chronicle as a columnist.

The only thing I can think counting against Justin Lockwood is that he's not very BBC and can be too fan based as opposed to taking that step back. I don't think Matthew Raisbeck is ready for it or at the right 'gravitas'.

I'd imagine they'll get quite a lot of interest in the role

Matchday Live 2 was on at the earlier time of 1pm in order to take the whole of the Cilic v Isner tennis semi-final. Of course Bournemouth v Sunderland was always going to take priority between 3-5pm, but I'm not sure if they were originally planning to cover the (conclusion of the) Andy Murray v Milos Raonic semi-final - Raonic has withdrawn from the tournament today.

Earlier in the week, talkSPORT 2's commentary team on the Paris Masters has been Catherine Whitaker (Thursday), Gigi Salmon (Friday), Chris Dennis and Chris Wilkinson (both worked both days), with Ray Stubbs and Andrew McKenna (Thursday afternoon), McKenna and Mark Webster (Friday afternoon), Will Gavin (Thursday night) and Dan Windle (Friday night) presenting. They have coverage of the final from 2pm tomorrow.

Scottish Football Lowland League
East Kilbride v BSC Glasgow - Kenny Crawford

East Kilbride recorded their 27th consecutive victory today. This beat Ajax's record of 26 straight wins (albeit in a slightly different class) in 1971/2. A superb gesture from Ajax Amsterdam who presented the club with 27 crates of Jupiler beer plus a video message from legend Edwin van der Sar. Real class..

Not that I'm self-promoting (honest! ) but there is top drawer highlights of the EK run on their TV Youtube channel. With today's game on some-point next week.

Good to see WM sent a reporter to all three of the FA Cup ties involving their local clubs still in at this stage of the competition. Not sure which game went out on Freeview channel 722, with it only being a two-way split from 3pm I imagine it was Villa as the sole DAB game. It was also nice to hear Andrew Dawkins reading the classified scores in the absence of John Platt. I've not heard "Long Distance Dawks" for a long time.
