Fully agree. Mick Lowes was one of the classic team when Capital Gold started football coverage in London in the late eighties. (To be fair, I cannot remember if he was there at the start but he was certainly there later on.) I wish ML a long and happy retirement.

So M'gladbach vs Man City is the last match that Phil Wye will be producing, you have to say he is a top guy, he lists commentary teams in his own time as a volunteer. I imagine it is not easy collating all that information. He has also on numerous occasions answered my question via DM, i think he has done the same for other members on this forum as well.

I remember on the old 5live station board, as well as this board, their was always the question why dont 5live provide commentary details before the game? The answer always used to be sonething to do with logistics or the informatiom is not avaliable.

However Phil Wye has shown where their is a will, their is a way.

BBC WM 95.6

Richard Wilford presenting BBC WM 95.6 Sport from the Crown Oil Arena

League One

National League
Torquay United v Solihull Moors - Rob Gurney (7.45pm commentary on DAB in Birmingham)

Interesting to hear Solihull Moors the subject of a DAB opt-out commentary, especially given that they are playing as far away as Torquay. The Moors certainly seem to be a particularly well-favoured non-league team to the WM Sport department, Tamworth never got the sort of treatment they are receiving when they were the WM region's only then-Conference Premier team.

UEFA.com

Rob Daly presenting Champions League Matchday Live alongside Paul Saffer

UEFA Champions League Group Stage
Arsenal v Paris Saint-Germain - John Bradley and Paul Saffer (commentary)
Borussia Monchengladbach v Manchester City - Mike Sewell

On last night's Champions League Matchday Live podcast, Matt Shaw was interviewed talking about Gladbach v Manchester City, with him being introduced as their reporter on the game - so obviously that has changed. Sewell is the former Radio 5 Live commentator who now regularly does bits for UEFA.com, while I'm guessing Shaw is the BBC Radio Sheffield reporter mentioned by swfcforever a few posts up the page.

Paul Saffer has been updating the two early kick-offs from the start of the show at 6.30pm GMT (not 5.30pm our time as I mistakenly typed yesterday!).

On Sat 10th, it says commentary of Watford/Stoke which is on this Sunday, I presume it means Watford/Everton which is on that day at 12:30.

On Sun 11th, they have Chelsea/WBA listed at midday

As has been mentioned previously, tomorrow is Mick Lowes last commentary for BBC Newcastle. He'll be hugely missed in these parts.

A superb 10 minute tribute slot was aired on the breakfast show earlier today, from around 1 hour 20 minutes in, just in case anybody fancies a listen:

Elite Ice Hockey League
Nottingham Panthers v Belfast Giants - Owen Bradley

Sorry to duplicate some of the details posted by swfcforever above, but just to confirm that Derek Parker is BBC Radio Sheffield and 5LSE's summariser tonight. Brian Laws was heard during their build-up, but he is doing his semi-regular job as BBC Radio Nottingham's Forest co-commentator. Also, Rob Staton was studio-based during the 6pm Football Heaven hour.

Good to hear a BBC Local Radio commentary simulcast on 5LSE tonight. It feel like the first time in quite a while they've done one for a Friday night Championship game, but I always appreciate it when they do put one on there.

I don't think there will be full commentary of El Clasico on talkSPORT 2 which is a shame looking at the schedules as Crystal Palace V Southampton is the featured commentary on that day. However based on the MDL2 program info it seems like it will be covered extensively.
