Good for them, many Leeds fans won't listen to Bates radio

5Live have Fulham/Newcastle commentary on Friday 5th August & the Community Sheild on 7th

On Sat 6th, there's coverage of FL but no commentary, Sports Extra might pick this up (not sure clashes there might be)

Wednesday 20th July - talkSPORT

Mark Saggers presented Kick Off alongside John Cross from the Daily Mirror

UEFA Champions League Second Qualifying Round Second Leg
Celtic v Lincoln Red Imps - Graham Courtney

As talkSPORT's North-East football correspondent, Graham Courtney was handily placed to discuss Sam Allardyce's imminent departure from Sunderland to take up the England job during his pre-match team news piece.

talkSPORT's post-Euro 2016 non-football live sports reporters have been:

Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th July

Cricket: First Test Match
England v Pakistan - Jon Norman

Golf: The Open Championship 2016
Royal Troon Golf Club, Ayrshire - Rupert Bell, Bob Bubka and Russell Hargreaves

Nic Parry has done some Radio Cymru commentary work in the past few years, but I'm struggling to rememebr when it was we heard him in English. May even have been during the end of last decade!

Tim Steere hosted West Yorkshire Sport and reported on Bradford City's home friendly against Burnley, and Katherine Hannah reported on Leeds United's away friendly against Peterborough.

The Huddersfield Giants rugby league match was online. An equally insignificant Yorkshire Carnegie rugby union match would have been on the radio.

It's worth pointing out that David Thompson was an occasional co-commentator for talkSPORT Live, as opposed to someone who someone who regularly appeared on their UK stations. Having looked at the stats from last season's thread, he only covered eight games for talkSPORT Live last season, so was hardly a regular on there. I can't remember ever hearing him on talkSPORT UK, he may have appeared as a guest but I don't think he's covered games for them.

It will be interesting to see if any of the talkSPORT regulars with Liverpool connections decide to join Colin Murray in exiting the station in response to the News Corp takeover. I imagine some will feel under pressure to follow suit or look bad in comparison. Specifically, Graham Beecroft and Ray Houghton have direct connections to the Hillsborough disaster (Ray as a Liverpool player, Beeky as BBC Radio Merseyside's commentator), although both have been with talkSPORT for over 15 years now. Along with his RTE TV work, Ray has been doing a lot of co-commentary work for Irish national radio stations Today FM and Newstalk in recent seasons, so he might be in a position to quietly exit talkSPORT without seeing work dry up, while Beeky does bits for LFC TV. Was he to leave talkSPORT due to the takeover, I'd like to think Liverpool would reward Beeky with an increased role on their channel given his stance - I also think he wouldn't struggle to find reporting work elsewhere.

I've not heard talkSPORT covering any friendlies so far this pre-season. Bob Ballard has been/will be hosting Saturday and Sunday Scoreboard between 1-4pm this weekend, with what appears to be a Euro 96 documentary pencilled into the talkSPORT schedule for 4-6pm tomorrow.

Off-tube again because of the "ongoing situation between the football club and BBC Radio Scotland".

BBC Radio Leeds has secured Leeds United commentary rights for the 2016-17 season and all matches will be on FM. No mention of Freeview, so it may be the case that the station is considering using that platform for the AM or DAB match.

Tim Steere is the new Bradford City commentator and Wayne Jacobs will summarise.

Matt Glennon and Mark Lillis will be the Huddersfield Town summarisers.

The frequency/platform allocation for Huddersfield Town and Bradford City has not been announced yet.

BBC Radio Leeds will have separate programmes for all 3 football teams when they are all playing on Saturdays. No decision about frequencies has been announced, but this won't be an issue on the first weekend because Leeds United play on Sunday.

Wednesday 27th July - talkSPORT

Hawksbee & Jacobs, followed by Drive Time with Danny Kelly and Darren Gough

UEFA Champions League Third Qualifying Round First Leg
FC Astana v Celtic - Graham Courtney

Horse Racing: Glorious Goodwood Festival
Goodwood Racecourse - Rupert Bell

This morning, Alan Brazil presented his Sports Breakfast show from Goodwood alongside Alan Curbishley. Yesterday, Brazil hosted the show from the racecourse with Dominic Cork. Not sure if Alan B be there for the whole of the week, but I imagine Rupert will be reporting from the event for all five days (he was also on duty on Tuesday).

These are the other non-football sports events talkSPORT have covered over the past seven days:

Cricket: Second Test Match
England v Pakistan (Fri to Mon) - Jon Norman

Rugby League: Super League
Wigan Warriors v St Helens (Fri) - Mark Wilson

Athletics: Anniversary Games 2016
Olympic Stadium, London (Fri to Sat) - Michael Weadock

Darts: PDC World Matchplay 2016
Winter Gardens, Blackpool (Fri to Sun) - Dan Dawson

Horse Racing: King George VI Weekend
Ascot Racecourse (Sat) - Rupert Bell (commentary on the Princess Margaret Juddmonte Stakes, the Woodford Reserve Handicap Stakes and the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes)

Formula 1: Hungarian Grand Prix
Hungaroring (Sun) - Graham Courtney

Bob Bubka will be covering the US PGA Championship golf over the next four days (he's been on doing previews today), while it's been mentioned that Michael Weadock will be talkSPORT's reporter on the Olympics.

The first live football commentary of the season on the talkSPORT stations will be going out tomorrow night, as talkSPORT 2 have announced they'll be covering West Ham United's UEFA Europa League qualifier at Domzale. Not sure why commentary is not on the main talkSPORT to be honest, with it being a 7.45pm kick-off it means the scheduled coverage of the Rogers Cup tennis tomorrow night has been bumped from the talkSPORT 2 schedule.
