However, they are not doing the late FL game on Boxing Day (Newc/Sheffield Weds) or the early game on 27th Dec (Brighton/QPR). 606 is on instead on Boxing Day and 27th has news shows on before Derby/Birmingham mid-afternoon.
I always tend to side with live commentaries over discussion/phone in shows. I can understand the need for news balance so maybe not doing the early game on 27th. No Sports Extra schedules are out yet so not sure if they'll appear on there. They also have a lot of games on so resources may be stretched in the OB department.

Interesting to hear 5LSE producing their own commentary for a live Thursday night Championship game, rather than simulcasting the home team's local radio commentary. They are carrying Macclesfield Town v Oxford United commentary tonight, it will be interesting to hear if they go with BBC Radio Manchester's service or their own.
It the first time I've heard Chris Wise commentating for a BBC national station - I'm familiar with his work on local radio with BBC Radios Solent and Wiltshire and formerly for The Quay in Portsmouth, as well as from his voiceover work on Channel 5's Football League highlights. It's fair to say that the South Coast has become something of a hotbed when it comes to local radio sports commentary talent moving up onto a national stage in recent years, with the likes of Sam Matterface, Alex Crook, Tony Husband, Laurence Herdman, Dan Windle and now Chris Wise having begun on stations like Radio Solent, The Quay and Express FM before going national.
