India v England - Jon Norman

Darts: PDC World Championship 2017

talkSPORT Live

Premier League
Everton v Liverpool - Tom Rennie and Dean Kiely

It doesn't look as if either talkSPORT station will have any Premier League commentaries from the Boxing Day matchround, although with the New Year's Eve/Day matchround falling upon a weekend, talkSPORT will have commentary on Liverpool v Manchester City (Saturday 5.30pm) and Watford v Tottenham Hotspur (Sunday 1.30pm) in their regular timeslots.

After that will be the FA Cup Third Round, with Sam Matterface mentioning during his game over the weekend that they'll be doing "seven or eight" commentaries - noting that Cambridge United v Leeds United on the Monday will be live on talkSPORT 2. I guess the other five UK-wide nationally televised games will be on the main station, and it would make sense if you had one of the Saturday 3pm kick-offs on talkSPORT 2 with the regular Around the Grounds service on the primary channel. It will be interesting to see if they put any of the other Sunday games on talkSPORT 2 that weekend.

There's no 3pm KO on 5Live today, I tweeted Ian Dennis asking and he said "Don't understand the radio contract but there's no comm today"

So seems as if there's a rights issue, all slightly odd and there's no TS2 PL game either, I guess it's probably the same next Monday also

Very unusual but perhaps another example of there being a much closer tie in with the TV packages and therefore 5 Live can only do commentaries on the televised matches?

I wasn't expecting TS2 to have a game - but always expected 5 Live to have a 3pm game today.

As you say it's the same on Monday next week. Very odd.

Can anyone think of the logic for this? What do you the Premier League gain by not having 3pm commentaries on Boxing Day? Let's be honest, this will be the first time in ages there's been no live game on Boxing Day.
