the West Ham match last night wasn't blocked online as I listened to it. maybe tune in blocked it but you could listen via the BBc sport website, presumably inside the UK only though.

Radio Leeds will use AM tomorrow to broadcast their coverage of Bradford City, which will also be on FM. That leads me to believe that AM will be used for Bradford City commentary when all 3 football teams are playing at the sam time.

I subsequently discovered that while the commentary was blocked on Radio London's iPlayer Radio stream, there was a specific stream of the coverage alone on the BBC Sport website. So there you are, at a guess the iPlayer Radio blocking may have been related to international audio rights with one you were listening to being UK-only.

Friday 5th August - talkSPORT

Matt Holland presenting Kick Off: The Player's Lounge alongside Geoff Peters and Matt Lawrence

Championship
Fulham v Newcastle United - Ian Abrahams

Cricket: Third Test Match
England v Pakistan - Jon Norman

Great to have The Player's Lounge back for another season with an in-depth EFL preview, looking at all three divisions properly rather than just the Championship. It's excellent to hear Geoff Peters working as Matt's co-host tonight, the two of them have a really strong rapport. Geoff's Football League round-ups last season were the highlight of this show for me and with Danny Higginbotham now a regular on Sky Sports' Championship coverage on Friday nights, it makes a lot of sense to get him in the studio. Matt Lawrence joined them after 8pm. Matt Holland is a burgeoning talent as a presenter and I really rate his show, it's easily one of the best on talkSPORT.

5 Live - 5.8.16

Mark Chapman hosting 5 Live Sport from Rio

Fulham v Newcastle - Darren Fletcher and Jermaine Jenas (commentary)

Earlier today Darren tweeted that he and Jenas were on tonight and John Murray replied that he was 'looking forward to you two on Friday nights this season". Fletcher also now lists himself as a 5 Live Sport presenter on his Twitter bio, so I'd say a good chance he might be the regular Friday night presenter this season with Jenas a regular guest.

Russell Fuller took over presenting duties on 5Live last night at half time so not sure if Chapman had other commitments with BBC TV in advance of the opening ceremony.
Hope it is true about Fletcher presenting on Friday on 5Live, he gets a bad press on the TV thread as a commentator but I enjoy him on radio (606 being the exception and that mainly being because of the idiot he was lumbered with).

Saturday 6th August - talkSPORT

Ian Danter presenting Matchday Live from the City Ground alongside Clive Allen with Alvin Martin at the iPro Stadium, followed by The Final Whistle with Ian Danter and Clive Allen from the City Ground

Championship
Birmingham City v Cardiff City - Tom Ross
Blackburn Rovers v Norwich City - Dom McGuinness
Bristol City v Wigan Athletic - Olly Wilson
Derby County v Brighton & Hove Albion - Nigel Pearson and Alvin Martin
Huddersfield Town v Brentford - Graham Courtney
Ipswich Town v Barnsley - Kev Lawrence
Nottingham Forest v Burton Albion - Geoff Peters, Clive Allen and Ian Danter
Reading v Preston North End - Ian Abrahams

Cricket: Third Test Match
England v Pakistan - Jon Norman

I'm sure everyone will be delighted that it'll be Nigel Pearson interviewing Nigel Pearson today! I haven't heard talkSPORT calling upon a specific Olympics reporter, either during the Opening Ceremony last night or on the events taking place this afternoon.

talkSPORT 2 are carrying updates from the reporters listed above, as Andrew McKenna presents Matchday Live 2 from the studio. From 5pm, they'll have commentary on Catalans Dragons v Widnes Vikings in Super League. Next Saturday, Middlesbrough v Stoke City will be their first live 3pm Premier League commentary.

Regarding BBC Radio Derby's coverage: regardless of the size of their clubs' support and the relative importance of particular matches; when Derby and Burton play at the same time it might be sensible to keep Brewers matches on AM with the Rams on FM as Burton upon Trent is on the Staffordshire/Derbyshire border and so some of the club's fanbase will overlap with the BBC WM catchment area. 1116AM has a strong reach and can be picked up pretty clearly in my part of the West Midlands, so I think it's sensible to keep Brewers matches on there.
Anyone know what they are doing on DAB just out of interest? Sadly I'm out of range at moment..

Sigh. What "coulda bean".

BBC Radio Wales

Birmingham City v Tan FC - Ian Hunt (host and updater on MW) Rob Phillips and Andy Legg (SE Wales FM & DAB / Swansea area FM & DAB / SW Wales FM & DAB / Digital TV)
Newport County v Mansfield Town - Mark Poyser and Osian Roberts (MW)
Wrexham v Dover Athletic - Carl Roberts and Waynne Phillips (N Wales FM / NE & NW Wales DAB / Online)
Swansea City v Stade Rennais (friendly) - Dafydd Pritchard (via phone)
Glamorgan v Northants (County Championship D2) - Nick Webb
Rio Olympics Day 3 - Catrin Heledd (at Boxing events) Huw Wynn Morgan (updating on Cycling road race)

The line to the newishly fan owned racecourse ground went down twice late in the second half, so were treated to Newport County commentary.

BBC Radio Cymru

Birmingham City v Tan FC - Dylan Griffiths and Iwan Roberts (nationwide commentary via digital radio only)
Newport County v Mansfield Town - Owain Llyr (host)
Wrexham v Dover Athletic - Gareth Blainey
Swansea City v Stade Rennais (friendly) - Dafydd Pritchard (via phone)
Rio Olympics Day 3 - Catrin Heledd (at Boxing events) Huw Wynn Morgan (updating on Cycling road race)

With the Eisteddfod at Abergavenny winding down (today is the last day) this wasn't an 'official' start to the sporting season, so whether Owain's attempt at a 'sgorgasm' for Mansfield's injury time winner will make Iwan's Saturday afternoon show - if indeed that contest comes back.

BBC Bristol / Somerset

Bristol City v Wigan Athletic - Geoff Twentyman (host) Ed Hadwin and Frank Fiedling (goalkeeper) (1566MW / Bristol & Bath DAB)
Scunthorpe United v Bristol Rovers - Richard Hoskin and Keith Brookman (94.9FM / 104.6FM / Somerset DAB / Freeview)
Yeovil Town v Notts County - Chris Spittles and Tom Seymour (95.5FM)
Rio 2016 Day 3 - Alistair Durden (at Swimming events)

BFBS Radio

Football League preview - Adam Inker
England v Pakistan (Cricket) - Guy Swindells

Anyone know why BBC have not released their football media pack for the new season as of yet, i am sure they have published it before the community shield in previous seasons.
