Footballers do know a game lasts for 90+ minutes right?

BBC Radio Wales

Newport County v Milton Keynes Dons (EFL Cup R1) - Mark Poyser (host) Carl Roberts and Andy Legg (SE Wales FM & DAB / Swansea area FM & DAB / SW Wales FM & DAB / M Wales FM / MW / Digital TV)
Guiseley v Wrexham - Rob Phillips and Kevin Ratcliffe (N Wales FM / NE & NW Wales DAB / Online)
Rio 2016 Rugby Sevens - Rhodri Llewellyn (updates of GB v Japan game)

I did like Carl mentioning that Andy would be with 'us' throughout the season dependent on his managerial career (he's recently been made Bangor City boss) to laughter from Mark Poyser and Andy. He (Andy) also called Newport's goalkeeper Joe Hart rather than Joe Day when mentioning the misfortune surrounding MK's equaliser for 2-2, then made it better by saying "actually I'm not sure Joe Hart could've done worse".

BBC Bristol / Somerset

Dan Albutt (studio host)

Wycombe Wanderers v Bristol City (EFL Cup R1) - Ed Hadwin and Adam Baker (94.9FM / 104.6FM / Bristol & Bath DAB / Somerset DAB / Freeview)
Walsall v Yeovil Town (EFL Cup R1) - Chris Spittles and Tom Seymour (95.5FM)

Despite the Yeovil Town game going into extra time, it stayed on 95.5FM only.

Tuesday 9th August - talkSPORT

Mark Saggers presented Kick Off from the Abbey Stadium with Matt Holland at Portman Road and Chris Iwelumo at Molineux

EFL Cup First Round
Barnsley v Northampton Town - Graham Courtney
Birmingham City v Oxford United - Tom Ross
Brighton & Hove Albion v Colchester United - Elliot Cook
Cambridge United v Sheffield Wednesday - Chris Parrott and Mark Saggers
Doncaster Rovers v Nottingham Forest - Naz Premji
Ipswich Town v Stevenage - Tony Incenzo and Matt Holland
Leyton Orient v Fulham - Ian Abrahams
Peterborough United v AFC Wimbledon - Kev Lawrence
Preston North End v Hartlepool United - Graham Beecroft (via phone)
Reading v Plymouth Argyle - Alex Crook
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Crawley Town - Dave Rowe and Chris Iwelumo

Olympic Games: Rio 2016
"Bulletins from Brazil" - Kate Partridge

With so many of tonight's games going to extra-time, including a number of talkSPORT's featured matches, it's disappointing that Kick Off ended at its set finish time of 10pm. While The Sports Bar with Andy Goldstein and Jason Cundy carried live updates from the remainder of extra-time, I think it would have been well worthwhile to extend Kick Off for 30-45 minutes as they would do if a commentary game headed into an extra half hour.

Mark Saggers trailed this weekend's coverage of the Premier League, noting that he'll be at Dean Court for AFC Bournemouth v Manchester United on Sunday with Jim Proudfoot and Danny Higginbotham commentating from 1.30pm. Apparently Sunday Exclusive will run between 1-6pm, incorporating the post-match phone-in which I imagine will be hosted by Saggers and Higginbotham on this occasion.

Interesting to see Alan Gowling back doing our games, he was ever present pretty much from 1997-2012 (or maybe 2013) when he then stopped after falling out with the club, they didn't enjoy his criticism of how things were going.

Now with new ownership, it would be good if he was on more often, a decent co-comm

Probably the lowest level league club to have a radio deal?

BBC Manchester haven't be able to agree a commentary deal for Bolton home matches this season incidentally. I presume that's because Tower FM's commentary is now airing on the "Wanderers Player" service.

talkSPORT 2's commentary team for Middlesbrough v Stoke on Saturday will be Chris Cooper and Micky Gray.
Good to hear that Chris Cooper is back on the talkSPORT stations for the first time in quite a while. While he has popped up one or twice as a match reporter most seasons over the past five years or so, he hasn't done a commentary for them for almost ten years now. Having been their lead commentator at one point and their number two commentator at the 2006 World Cup, calling the famous Germany v Italy semi-final among other matches, he left the station to join Century 105.4FM in Manchester in January 2007, having been largely phased out on live games in favour of Jim Proudfoot and Nigel Pearson after Germany 2006. Going by the first thread of this kind from 2006/07, Cooper's last talkSPORT commentary was on FC Porto v Arsenal in December 2006.

Going by the choice of commentators for a match to be played at Middlesbrough - you have Cooper who is based near to that part of the world, having been Real Radio's Sunderland commentator, plus a pundit in Michael Gray who is an ex-Sunderland player - I wonder if talkSPORT 2's choice was at least partially geography-based and, going forward, we hear different voices covering live games in the North-West, Midlands and South. Given that Cooper is set to be The Pulse's Bradford City commentator and Gray often is a pundit on Matchday Live on the main station, I think this is likely.

Major talkSPORT commentary news was mentioned at the top of tonight's edition of Kick Off - Mark Saggers said that his co-host Jim Proudfoot is going to be "our commentator on Sundays." Later in the show, Saggers dubbed Jim as their "Sunday Exclusive commentator" so he's taking over from Sam Matterface as their lead voice that day.

I had hoped that, at the start of a new Premier League contract, with Jim having returned to talkSPORT part of the way through the last one, they'd use the contract renewal as an opportunity to give him a regular berth as their commentator in one of their regular weekend commentary timeslots. It looks like this is happening, with Sundays making sense as Jim typically works for the Premier League's television international feed on either the 12.45pm or 5.30pm kick-offs on Saturdays. I imagine Sam Matterface will retain his role as talkSPORT's Saturday teatime commentator, indeed he mentioned last night that he's commentating on Manchester City v Sunderland with Stuart Pearce this Saturday. But now there should be more of an even split of live commentary games between Jim and Sam - with others getting their chance on talkSPORT 2's coverage of Saturday 3pm Premier League games and La Liga plus occasional midweek and FA Cup games across both stations.

For the record, talkSPORT didn't have a reporter at Bristol Rovers v Cardiff City tonight, although they did have Jon Norman at the Oval for the Fourth Test between England and Pakistan, while Kate Partridge provided updates on the Rio 2016 Olympic Games with Michael Weadock conducting on-site interviews. On Saturday, I see there's an amendment to their online schedule - following Manchester City v Sunderland commentary, The Season Ticket then begins at the earlier time of 7.30pm with Danny Kelly and Stuart Pearce (the latter will have co-commentated at the Etihad Stadium). That show finishes at 10pm with the Euro 96: 20 Years of Hurt documentary following on from it.

Friday 12th August - talkSPORT

Matt Holland presenting Kick Off: The Player's Lounge alongside Danny Gabbidon

Championship
Brighton & Hove Albion v Nottingham Forest - Ian Abrahams

Cricket: Fourth Test Match
England v Pakistan - Jon Norman

Olympic Games: Rio 2016
"Bulletins from Brazil" - Kate Partridge

Kate also provided Olympic updates on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon-night, although I haven't caught them calling upon a studio-based Rio 2016 reporter during the other days of the Games so far. They also have Michael Weadock conducting interviews on-site in Rio.

No rugby league Super League updates tonight, although Mark Wilson and Garry Schofield are commentating on Castleford Tigers v Wigan Warriors for talkSPORT 2. Super League Live began on there on the stroke of the 8pm kick-off, after that station's new Friday night show - The Weekend Starts Here with Tom Rennie, Matt Lawrence and Kevin Hatchard - ran between 6-8pm. I'm guessing said show won't retain that timeslot, and will perhaps revert to a 6-7pm slot, by the time Premiership rugby union begins again in September, not to mention the return of Friday night Bundesliga games, with Rennie, Hatchard and Lawrence regularly covering those matches for talkSPORT Live.

BBC Sussex

Johnny Cantor presenting Midweek Sports Special from the Amex Stadium

Championship
Brighton & Hove Albion v Nottingham Forest - Johnny Cantor and Warren Aspinall (7.45pm commentary, also on Seagulls Player), with Adrian Harms reporting

BBC Radio Nottingham

Robin Chipperfield presenting Matchnight from the Amex Stadium

Championship
Brighton & Hove Albion v Nottingham Forest - Colin Fray and Steve Hodge (7.45pm commentary, also on Forest Player)

Fun fact: Brighton v Forest was the Friday night Championship game this weekend last year. Indeed all three stations listed above called upon the same match broadcasters then that they are using tonight, meaning I could do a copy-and-paste job of the message I posted this time last year!
