At least that is the impression given by a RadMac Music News interview last week (Monday I think) with McLaren and Westwood as the puppet masters.

Which, if true, will be upsetting to all those kids who thought they were kicking out against the establishment fired and fuelled by their own dissatisfaction with society.

mclaren and westwood would like to think they created it, and indeed they did help popularise it. but it was happening with or without them, it was already happening they were just in the right place at the right time.

to counter their claims - just watch 'the filth and the fury' and see what first generation punks had to say.
