I wonder. ..did GLEB pulled a Trent No offense but what family commitment ? I know that his wife really wanted to do the show so maybe tptb said No and she said well my husband isn't coming back then.
I agree. Family commitments haven't stopped him from taking part in celeb master chef.

I wonder if he might end up in the jungle? Doesn't that run just before strictly starts? I can't see him agreeing to be off the telly( I think he likes the camera too much!) unless he's got something else lined up.

Hopefully this is Antons last year. He's a nice guy but his Latin isn't great, there's so much wasted potential with the partners her gets.

I'd love Joanne to win while Kevin remains a runner up. Or better, he comes dead last

I do think, and I don't mean this disrespectfully as I am a fan of Gleb, that for him he loves the attention and fame rather than the actual dancing. I would've liked to have seen him do the kind of stuff that The Clifton's, Brendan, Pasha etc do by appearing in shows etc and doing the Strictly cruise and weekends, but I don't think he's jnterested in all that sadly,

The jungle is a very real possibility, especially as he and his wife have a home in Sydney and spend a lot of time there and he'd probably get paid a lot more for doing it... Hmmm.

I do know James Jordan would be hacked off because he's been trying to get on IAC for the past few years

Devastated about Gleb as he was my favourite I really will miss him. Glad we're getting Giovanni and Joanne back though and the three new pro's look gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing what they can do. And please please please give Jo a decent celeb this year!!!

It looks like he has something in the pipeline involving Arlene Phillips so not sure what his availability is like for later in the year. Kind of hope he doesn't do the Jungle tbh but wouldn't put it past him

To be fair to Gleb, a week or two on Masterchef doesn't compare to doing Strictly from August through to the middle of February. He's the only pro with a child apart from Brendan - and Brendan gets to go home to his family each night (and still he was pretty peed off about having to travel to work with Sunetra).

I've no idea what Mr and Mrs Gleb's visa status is, but perhaps it just isn't possible for the whole family to move here for the duration unless Elena's on a work contract too. I'm not suggesting the BBC should ever be held to ransom by a pro, but I could see a scenario whereby both parties have reasonable perspectives on the situation, but which are unfortunately incompatible. If Gleb couldn't forsee a way of being with his family and being on the show, then that's an impasse.

All of that said, backstageone hinted at 'ego' issues being at the heart of it, and Gleb 'getting fresh' too early on (whatever that means), so I guess he probably over-estimated his value to the show and they wouldn't give him what he wanted. Whether that was a job for Elena, more money, more control - or whatever - we can only speculate.

its on a thursday at the Royal Albert Hall so I doubt it would be an issue either
First rounds are on in Brentwood on the Tuesday and Wednesday depending on ballroom or Latin.

But it isn't a case of a competition lasting only so long, it is the hours and hours and hours needed for coaching, learning choreography, dress/costume fittings, and mostly practice practice practice. Most pro dancers will practice anything up to 8 hours a DAY. If you think Strictly is hard work for pro dancers, it is nothing compared to what the top dancers do to prepare for competition, which is why I'm really sorry the Jones's are involved in Strictly.

I'm hoping Natalie and Oti get ringers and Kevin gets the dufferest of all duffers.
This ^^

Very happy that

Aljaz
Natalie
Oti
Pasha are back

I look forward to getting to know the newbies, that is what It Takes Two is for! Love that show.

Kevin needs to have the worst dancer there has ever been on Strictly.

I hope at least two more professionals are revealed as I'd like to have 16 or more couples this year.

I'm so glad that Kevin is back! I love his enthusiasm and how well he gets on with his celeb partners and he is definitely my favourite pro.

I am also sorry that Katya has become a pro as I feel her competitive career will take a back seat - which is a real shame but I guess she has thought about it long and hard and its her decision

Also - didn't he drop Natalie in rehearsals for the tour, she could not dance so they had to replace her with Karen ??

That would have been a black mark.

Glad to see the end of Gleb. He spoilt Anita's chances last year when he jus created a series of show dances. I won't really miss Tristan I wonder if Poppygate sealed his fate.
And all is well with the world (well my world!) with the return of Pasha, who hopefully will get a decent partner this year

Do we know what sort of height the new ladies are?

Tristan quit because he wasn't enjoying it.

Think Oksana is 5'2 and Katja 5'6 (??)

Oksana's very small - maybe 5'2" (if that). Since Neil is pretty short, I'd think Katya is also - 5'3"? But both Ola and Kristina were about the same, and Aliona maybe 5'5", so not much change really.

I read that the Spanish guy is short, replacing 6'1" Gleb and 5'11" Tristan, so that might be a problem. I also think London didn't really suit Tristan's wife, whose connections are in Sydney and Los Angeles, and with their new baby, just born in April, I don't think London would have worked out well at all for his family.

ETA Sorry - I didn't see Fridgesoup's post when I posted - weird issues with this board!

I'm in full agreement Kaycee. In the early days of Strictly, the Bennets were able to compete in the Nationals because I feel, the Strictly training was less intense than it is today.Couples are now putting in far more time on the show. Of course Neil and Katya would have discussed at length, but I hope it will not be too much of a set back in their competitive career. In addition I would have probably preferred a 10 dancer or a ballroom specialist rather than another Latin dancer.
