Kevin seems to be filling the James Jordan role of handling the BBC "staffers".

I think Kevin's height plays a part in who is chosen for him as the shortest male it may be that there were no short duffers for him to dance with
The only real contender on paper Kevin has had imo was Frankie and two middle of the roaders - I hope they do deliberately pick a short duffer for him just to shut up the knockers on this forum |

I honestly don't think Kellie was supposed to last as far as the final - and its really a testiment to her work ethic that she did. Granted she was in the dance off a couple of times, but there was no contraversy about her being kept over anyone else.

The other point that some people seem to miss is, until the series really gets under way, it is impossible to be 100% certain who will be a duffer and who will have potential. Some "potentially goods" have turned out to be dis--arrrr--sterss, darling!!!!! |

There is a difference between 'Ringer' and 'Contender'.
Ringers are those with prior dance experience or a large fanbase fitting in with the demographic of the show. Contenders are those who look good and on paper have potential to do well. Let's look at his partners. Susanna- Won CIN Special- No other dance experience- Contender Frankie- Girlbander- RINGER Kellie- Went to Sylvia Young and trained in dance. RINGER (Although she did work really hard in order to stay in.) So yes, two ringers and a potential contender means a duffer next. |

Not sure how you could call Frankie a ringer, girl band member or not, she was quite awful to start with.

susannah won with a team and they were not that good imo so in my eyes neither a contender or a ringer. Frankie was a contender for me, Kellie went to Sylvia Young yes, but got a series whilst in her teens that ran for 6 years - her main subject at Sylvia's was acting with some dancing - coupled with her age and work schedule made her a middle of the roader for me.
I know a soap actress who has been approached in the past would hate her to do it at some point as she would get a ringer tag - although she never danced ballroom and latin and hasn't danced in any way for quite a few years |

I think Kevin will get a duffer surely, I agree that I thought Lisa Rilley would be a duffer and she wasn't quite Ann Widdicombe dreadful, so I was supprised

I don't remember Kellie being 'awful' at any point. She had had quite a lot of contemporary dance experience (and even taught classes in it) so I really don't think she could be described as a mere 'middle of the roader' in terms of ability or experience; Frankie had more experience than simply being in a girl band - she'd done ballet and dance since childhood and her mother taught Latin dancing (making it hard to believe she hadn't been exposed to it as a child). I think Kevin is a fantastic teacher who gets the best out of his celebs but he hasn't had a dud or total beginner so far, they've all been trained performers with at least some basic dance training before he go them.
With Frankie, I felt she had fantastic potential. Once again, her leg and footwork let her down and despite Kevin's tuition,I felt it didn't improve an awful lot. Frankie had wonderful posture and added grace to her dancing. But again I would call both these ladies, fantastically talented with potential but not ringers. As I and others have said before, sometimes previous dance experience of a different style can actually work against you. Looking forward to see who they have selected this year. |

I'd like to see what he can achieve with someone of, say, Kirsty Gallagher's level.

Yes,I watched it- but just because the judge's /audience scored her well,it doesn't make her a ringer. Her position in the leader board was down to her pro teaching her well, and her hard work .The point I was making is that she was not a ringer, anyone that knew what they were looking for in terms of technique and application thereof, could see that she had received no prior training. At that time, initially, the best of the bunch.
I liked both Frankie and Kellie, they improved so much with Kevin as their pro, he is one of the best on the show. I think Kevin needs an obvious duffer so people get off his back. Natalie didn't really gain support until she partnered Audley and, particularly, Michael. Oti immediately found fans as she had to test herself by choreographing someone with a dodgy shoulder. Then again luck comes into it - I doubt anyone in production saw either Chris Hollins or Chris Parker as finalists when selecting the couples! But he needs a pure beginner shortly to get the 'favourtism' tag off his back. I wonder if height is why Neil Jones hasn't been signed up. They've lost two tall pros and Neil is hardly the BFG (with no offence to him!!) |

I think other posters have acknowledged that Frankie was not a ringer but did have potential to improve prior to training - same with Kelly. Of course, Susanna had won a Children in Need Special so it was clear she had potential from the off.

I am sure you are right re Neil Fudd he is about an inch taller than Kevin and I think the show needs taller pro dancers - a dancer I know from BTF knows the reason he hasn't been approached is height (about same as Kevin)
